Kross listed as "Discontinued" on Google; is there a new model?

Post by tkarlmann »

I just did a search on Google relating to the Kross. Google had a question: "Is the Korg Kross still available" or something close to that.
Google came back with "Discontinued".
Is there any rumblings about a Kross 3 that anyone has heard about?

The Kross 2 is still showing as available for purchase on the Thomann website. Availability is given as "In stock within 1-2 weeks".

Korg was going to position the Nautilus AT as the replacement for the Kronos. The feedback received to that idea caused a change of plans. The Kronos returned to the lineup with the Kronos 3. Korg then retired the Krome and named the Nautilus/AT as the replacement.

So: Korg's Arranger/Workstation lineup is (from top to bottom): Pa5X, Kronos 3, Nautilus/AT & Kross.

Thanks to all who replied. The information provided allayed my concerns.
I wonder, now, if Google somehow confused "Kross" with "Krome"?

The selling price of the Nautilus/AT would make it difficult to name it as a replacement for the Kross as the Kross is more of an entry-level type of keyboard. AI is very much a "work in progress", so verify any information returned by an AI query. 🙂

There are two Korg models named Kross. The original Kross is discontinued. The 2nd generation Kross (often referred to as Kross 2) is still available. Sounds to me like Google didn't understand which Kross model you were asking about.

I haven't seen anything from Korg naming Nautilus/AT as the replacement. I think there is simply a (possibly temporary) gap in the line. The prices don't justify looking at either Nautilus as a Krome replacement. (Travel weight, too!)

Kross 88: $1300
Nautilus 88: $2500
Nautilus 88 AT: $3000

Kross 61:$930
Nautilus 61: $1800
Nautilus 61 AT: $2300

Krome wasn't nearly so much more expensive than Kross.

If you're going to include arrangers like Pa5X, then if you're looking at 61-key models, the list would be Pa5X, Kronos, PA1000, PA700, Nautilus/AT, PA600, PA300, Kross. (Below that, they also have the i3, but it does not include the workstation-style sequencer or sound editing functions of any of these others, despite Korg's putting the i3 in the workstation category on their web site.)

True, the lower-level arrangers in the PA line-up can be included. Of the PA lineup, the 5x is likely the best known. I don't know if Korg posts sales figures, but it wouldn't surprise me if the 5x, despite the high price tag, sells more units that the 300, 600, 700 & 1000. 🤔

There is a video from NAAM posted on YouTube where the Korg representative advises that the Nautilus/AT is the replacement for the Krome. In addition, The Krome has been removed from Korg's website. I also remember seeing an article where Korg stated that the Krome had received its final update.

Now Korg could roll out a brand-new keyboard somewhere down the line and position it between the Kross and Nautilus. Will they? Only Korg knows. 😐
