Issues with the New "Fixed - No Transpose" NTT Type-Table

Post by daviddd_93 »

Hello everyone!

I’m struggling to understand why Korg completely changed the behavior of the "Fixed - No Transpose" NTT type on the Pa5X keyboard. This change makes it impossible for me to play styles I originally created on the Pa3X or Pa4X.

Here’s what’s happening:

1 .First Chord Dependency

Previously, in Fixed - No Transpose mode, the programmed notes remained in their original key, only affected by Master Transpose.
On the Pa5X, the style now plays in the key of the first chord detected.
This creates problems—if I start a song with an E minor chord but my bass or other tracks were programmed in A minor, those tracks will now play in E minor instead of staying in A minor.
This makes it difficult to ensure the correct playback unless I’m extremely careful about which chord I play first.

2. Master Transpose No Longer Works

On the Pa4X, if I wanted to shift my song down one semitone, I could just press -1 on Master Transpose, and everything adjusted perfectly.
On the Pa5X, this no longer works for tracks set to Fixed - No Transpose.
The manual confirms this change:
Pa5X: "The programmed notes are never transposed when chords are changed. They can’t even be transposed by the Master Transpose."
Pa4X: "The programmed notes can only be transposed by the Master Transpose. They are never transposed when chords are changed."

3. Please Bring Back the Old "Fixed - No Transpose" Mode

The Pa4X version was more flexible and allowed styles to be transposed easily.
The new behavior limits creativity and makes it harder to use older styles.

Korg, please consider restoring the original Fixed - No Transpose behavior. This would help many users who rely on this feature!
Thank you!

Same for me. It made a lot of my previous work useless in the Pa5X.

100% agree. Fixed No Transpose should be like had always been. Make Korg Pa great again!
