Low output solution

Post by Tommyboy »

My M50 was barely audible so having a tiny bit of electronics knowledge I decided to try and fix it. I looked over the schematic and it turns out by just removing one resistor (R14), and the diode(WD1), it takes the muting circuit out of the equation altogether. So I reassembled it, plugged everything in, turned the volume down on both keyboard and mixer and "VOILA". Problem solved. Just remember to turn the volume down before powering up. Cheers!

Replacing C93 might have been a better solution (assuming C93 had gone leaky), but at least it's working.

What I didn't mention in my post was that the dual diode had blown up, putting a hole in the board which destroyed the copper trace that leads to the cap. At that point it was easier to just take out the resistor so +12v would not even reach that point. Having only a basic knowledge of electronics I wasn't sure what would happen with +12v going to Q4 and C27 if it would still cause the output to stay stuck in mute, so removing the circuit altogether was for me, the only "sure thing" to do.
