Aaaaargh! My Kronos 1 combusted...

Post by yeskeys »

I had purchased several 3rd party libraries for it. Now I have to get all my all old libraries and patches onto my new Kronos X.
I have my OG Kronos' "code" and am not sure if I should register the Kronos as new, then contact the vendors, or if I can do it all using this page: https://id.korg.com/users/products

The page lists what I think are all the libraries I paid for. I appears you can now use one library purchase on up to 3 devices? My OG Karma had a screwdriver dropped onto the live power supply and I thought a fire was going to break out!!!

Also do you think the sparks shooting from the power supply ruined a bunch of other components??

Thanks people. Eric

Yes, that is correct. It wasn't originally that way, but they amended the availability to 3 keyboards. Your library codes should be on your user account page in the Korg shop. However, Korg migrated the old shop from "shop.korg" to "korg.shop." The new one being:

https://korg.shop/sales/order/history/

My 3 most recent purchases were there, but my older orders were not there!

My older orders were found here:
https://shop.korg.com/REGISTERKRONOS

Thank goodness, that page is still up. I hope you can register your Kronos and that will still work, otherwise, contact Korg.

In 2008, my X-stand collapsed and my OASYS hit the floor so hard that sparks shot out of the power connection on the back of it. A repair store replaced the power unit and the OASYS has worked fine ever since. I use it as my main controller, so it is in constant use. Hopefully, the same will be true with your Kronos. Good luck.

Maybe yes, maybe no.
You will need to have it checked over by a competent tech to find out.
It could be as simple as a blown internal fuse, or it could be much worse.
