Midi Panic Button-all notes off

Post by Bernie9 »

I occasionally get a stuck note while playing midi files. I read that it is Shift, start, stop, but it doesn't work.

Does it happens randomly,or on specific midies, or even bars ?

It happens sometimes when I am using my DM40 wind controller. These are misc Tune1000 SMFs I am working with. Thanks for the reply.

You have to check if it happens randomly or not.
My guess is that there are some midi length problems either on midies, or you have to better adjust your wind controller.

In case you use a midi channel that it already contains midi notes, and you play along on that track, that would conflict indeed.
Try using another channel for that song,or make sure the ''wind controller's midi channel isn't in use on all your midi files, one way or another.

Thank you
I am wondering if the "All Notes Off" command can be executed from the wind controller, probably a stupid question.

I really don't know how you use midies with pa4x and wind controller,
but in my opinion ,it's better to use the midi files through a songbook entry.
The reason is that you can set 4 kbd set to use within the song, with all their settings pre-set already .

No need to worry that you conflict the midi file in any way, unless the midi file is problematic anyway.

That's the main difference, than using midi files through sequencer.
While in sequencer you overplay at any channel you choose, but it also triggers not only your pitch bends or any other controller you use, but the channels track' as well if it is in use by the midi file.
You also increase the polyphony,so it might cut the sound as well ,
so better option is to use midi files through SONG PLAY MODE ,usually easier if setting a songbook entry with that.

You can also try these in case i understood something wrong and your problem is something else:

-Global menu--->MIDI----MIDI IN CONTROL tab------check ''fixed note off velocity'' and check if it solves the problem.

- MIDI FILTERS--> use any filter you believe causes problems to midi in and out (120all sound off or sys exclusive,or all ctr ch. for example)

I sure appreciate your help and will keep it under advisement. I play all of my midis as registrations. I use 1 and 3 with keyboard, and reserve 2 for my DM48. As an aside, I use the wind controller for woodwind sounds and because I can play most anything by ear with harmonica controller using cc 2. It normally works very well for me. As you say, there could be a conflict.

Then you shouldn't have any problem, unless the 4 keyboard set registrations within the songs have some parameters wrong that you missed to check.

Aha !
You may have hit the problem. I have many voices stored in "User". They are taken from all over the board and, naturally, have their own parameters. If this happens again, I shall investigate the particular settings. Thankfully the problem seldom occurs, but when it does, I have to shut down.
Thanks again
