Pa5x voice preset and songbook

Post by aaccordst »

On my Pa3x in songbook I can in each STS (1,2,3,4) write variuos voice preset
.In PA4x it's not possible, only one voice preset is for all keyboard sets(1,2,3,4,).
It's noncence for me because if I'm playing song "A phrase " I need voice preset without backing vocals or various voice preset, when I singing chorus I need backing vocal and maybe little bit a different amount of reverb or delay etc. This is not problem on my Pa3x because when I press different STS also different voice preset will be chosen.
It's a big failure for Pa4x,but tragedy is that I didn't found that is possible on
Pa5x(in manual for 5x I didn't found that is possible)
Please correct me if I'm wrong.
Also on Pa3x in each performance(keyboard set on Pa4x) you can use different voice preset.
Korg's programmers are not musicians,my conclusion

PA4x OS is quite different to PA3x
"PERFORMANCE" and "STS" on PA3x is not the same as "KEYBOARD-SET" on PA4x.
SONGBOOK, as I am sure you know, is designed to handle most detailed settings for a SONG but to have dedicated VH preset for every Keyboard-SET would be very frustrating and take a long time to set up. GLOBAL mic override could resolve that I guess.

Sorry, but just one of the differences in the models. Would be surprised if PA5x is different.

If you mean Sound by voice preset, then Yes.
It is possible to have different Sounds in Pa4X, in Upper 1, Upper 2 and Upper 3 and then save them in one of the keyboard set (1-4).

Hope that helps

Different Voice Presets (harmonization)

Post by siebenhirter »

I think it is no more possible to use different VOICE PRESETS (harmonization) within different keyboard sets, because voice presets only might change when global checkbox (Main page > Mic/Guitar tab) is not selected and you choose a songbook entry.

To have the option of dedicated VH preset for every Keyboard-SET would not be frustrating, because you don't have to use this option if you find it frustrating. However, it is frustrating when you want to use such an option as in a previous model, but it is no longer available.

To praise the properties of the songbook as designed to handle most detailed settings is misguided, because the songbook already had these properties in the previous models, where various options were not left out, but could be used if necessary - such as different VOICE PRESET or STYLE CHANGE to synchronize a performance change with a style change.

In order to omit various options, it would have been unnecessary to re-design the songbook for these shortcomings.
kind regards

Voice presets assigned to Keyboard-Sets/Performances

Here often you can find inquiries about the backward development of functions that were available in previous models but are completely missing in subsequent models or can no longer be used so well in a modified and slimmed-down version. One could try to discuss about this objectively and honestly.

If you point out missing or insufficient functions, experience has shown that this is not welcomed here. Instead of discussing honestly, one is either attacked for criticizing the inadequacies, or an attempt is made to excuse developmental setbacks with a changed or improved concept - even if this does not apply to the option criticized.

If criticized functions are fixed with an update after massive complaints, those users who fought the complaints or tried to justify them with flimsy arguments probably also use the options that were subsequently implemented again.

A list of such cases is not necessary in this context - it would be too extensive and pointless anyway. However, the option of a missing VH preset for each keyboard set would fit into such a listing.

To justify that the OS of Pa4x and Pa3x are quite different with the fact, because a Performance is not the same as a Keyboard-Set is a farce - the name of the Pa3x-Performance was simply replaced by Pa4x-Keyboard-Set. The essential characteristics are the same, except that no style can be changed synchronously with a keyboard set of the Pa4x and that one can no longer store dedicated VH presets - but both were possible with the performances of the Pa3x.

If it were possible again with the Pa4x, you wouldn't have to be frustrated because of that - you just don't use the features of dedicated settings and save yourself having to take a long time to set up individually. This is the case with every option - YOU CAN USE IT but you don't have to. But if it's missing - then it is missing and you just can't use it at all (even if you wanted to).

Unfortunately - different voice presets in different KB sets can not be assigned since Pa3x

Sorry, but I'm less bothered by the unjustified jubilation immediately after the appearance of a new model, but it's incomprehensible to me that justified criticism of inadequacies is repeatedly suppressed here with inaccurate, flimsy arguments.

These sometimes degenerating into spiteful postings by Korg fans who are resistant to criticism spoil the motivation for regular postings in this forum, at least for me.
kind regards

Thanks siebenhirter for clarifying.
