Korg Z1 How to Play

I have a Korg Z1 that I cannot get to play sounds. I can do demos by pressing the jump and tab buttons. Then pressing the 3rd knob. The manual says 'Select program play mode". So I push that button and "prog" and "bank" light up. I can select a program bank, number, same category, same user group. But no sound. A cable is plugged into the Z1 Output "R" and "L/mono" and 3 and 4 on a Focusrite Scarlett 4x4 which is where my Korg Wavestation EX" is plugged into when I want to use it. And works there. I would guess it is some setting on the Z1. But I don't see any help from the manual. Help would be appreciated.

Make sure Local Control is set to "on". The setting is on the MIDI Basic page.
