Is the Korg Pa5x being shipped in the US already?

Post by samk323 »

Hello everyone,

My friend has ordered his first Korg Pa arranger, (Korg Pa5x) early last month. Only Korg he has is the Kronos 2 which he loves. He ordered the Pa5x, from SweetWater and still no updates regarding shipping.

Has anyone received their Korg Pa5x, or anyone have an idea, as to when it will approximately ship?

Thank you!

I have ordered one too but, not available yet. No ETA known. The first batch of Pa5X was sold out on the first day, and all those who got it were the ones that immediately put in the orders. I will let you know if I know an ETA.

I ordered on 6/30/22 - which I think was the release date. I just happened to be looking at something on Sweetwater and saw the Pa5X listed, showing as incoming (order now)

I jumped on it, and placed the order. So - ordered on 6/30, Shipped 7/07, arrived 7/09/22

I believe this was part of their initial order, with the next order coming in August from what I recall

My dealer says no new ETA yet. There has been no further stock of the 5X since its initial batch almost two months ago. The whole of the US is waiting for it. They are working on an updated OS, but we don't know whether they will ship the KBs before the completion of the update or not.

I have one on order through Sweetwater since June. They first told me late July, then late August, then September, and now it's moved to late October :)

I guess with all the bugs I am hearing about, I hope it ships with a new updated OS.

Although not available yet in the USA, I found that the best price advertised for worldwide shipping & delivery is from Thomann in Europe, thomannmusic.com.

Pa5X-76: USD $3890 + USD $75 shipping, when it becomes available.
So far, this appears to be an unbeatable price!

Depend if you have to pay any kind og special taxes and/or VAT when import to USA.
Import to Norway it's not any custom tax to add, but we have to add 25% VAT.
Best price I've managed to negotiate so far is NOK 43.000,-, That's aprox US$ 4400,-
But, so far there's no PA5X-76 to find in the stores.....
Cheers 🥂

USD $3890
That is unbelievable!!!!!
A direct exchange to our Mickey Mouse dollars is AUD $5,666 but here its street price is AUD $7,500 (USD $5,148) - its RRP is AUD $9,500 (USD $6,521) incl taxes
If purchased from overseas, our taxes will add 10% immediately plus import duties so still not a good option....

Brand new PA4x-76 are selling here for AUD 4,800. (USD 3,295)

:? :?

It might be too unbelievable - If I hadn't heard of the dealer before - I might have suspected a "Bait and Switch" - but who knows...

The US does not have VAT - so the price should be legit. The shipping is EXTREMELY low for a package of that size. If I were to ship my keyboard to my neighbor it would cost more than that.

All of that said - I paid $4890 for a New Pa5X when it launched and was happy with the price. If I had seen this for $3890, I may have tried to order, albeit I would have used a Credit Card for Fraud protection just in case...

Thomann is legit. BUT, if you import anything valued at over $800, you will pay a significant amount of duty when customs stops the package on the way into the US. It will not be cheaper than buying one here. The duty fees are deliberately designed that way to prevent just this situation. As well, the keyboard will be considered "grey market" which means that KORG USA will not honor a warranty claim and you will have to ship it back to Thoman for warranty service.

DmKeys is correct. I had bought accessories and things from them costing less than $800, so there was no duty.

I did not know that - thank you very much...

I ship things overseas to my wife in Asia, and unfortunately get nailed with taxes on items that I already own. Doesn't seem fair, but I haven't found a way around it other than to take it with me when I travel. A keyboard would be difficult, but I might end up taking one there.
