Using Kross as a midi controller AND interface?

Post by KatJazz »

I'm wondering if there's a way of using the Kross as a midi controller and generating the audio from my DAW, to then send the audio back to the Kross' output? I currently have my DAW's audio output device preference set to the kross and it is working. However, I'm still getting the kross' built in audio mixed in with the DAW audio (Keyscape).

Basically, I'm wondering if there's a way to silence all of the on board sounds on the Kross. This would essentially save me bringing an external interface for live performances.

Many thanks!

Yes. Set up a sequence or combi in which all channels are set to either off, or external, as per your needs so that none of them lead to the internal sound engine.

There's an easier way: Global Menu -> G-MIDI -> Basic -> Untick "Local Control On". This way you disconnect the interface from the tone generator. To play the internal sounds you need to loopback the keyboard MIDI via software back to the synth. Otherwise the Kross is just a MIDI Keyboard with audio interface.
