As I have ran out of studio space, I using Adam Szabo's Viper, which seems to go under the radar horizon. It sounds great

Looks like the 88 is no longer available at Sweetwater.

When Sweetwater has “left the page up for reference only”, that always means it’s history.

Sweetwater still has the LS 88.

In literature, the Nautilus had a rather inauspicious destiny and inglorious fate.

Time for Korg to announce the Nautilus 2 with aftertouch and nine assignable sliders.

I called Sweetwater and asked if the Kronos has been discontinued. The guy I work with said he would contact Korg and get back to me. I received a call back from Sweetwater. The answer is YES, the Kronos has been discontinued. They are selling through their remaining stock and then it will be gone.

ok, so lets see what comes next.

Karma integration was the main reason for me to get a Kronos — so the 'new' Nautilus is no option for the future.

KARMA was definitely a plus point in the Kronos buying decision.

Add to that, various aspects of the controls such as vector joystick, ribbon controller, control surface group, none of which are present in the current alternative.

My guess is that the size of the kronos user base will mean Kronos after market parts and updates from third parties will step in. After all the Kronos is largely based on OEM components anyway. And to os is open source. So bridges will be built and the design adjusted to work with newer tech. The Kronos will be around for a number of years yet.

The Kronos is partially based on OEM components - the Intel motherboard and related subsystem.

It is definitely not open source. Korg has done everything in their power to thwart users that attempt to DIY capabilities that Korg has been unwilling to implement.

Hate to break it to you all but the Nautilus is the new Kronos model and why Kronos is now EOL.

Same is happening in the UK stores have removed them from sale and when asking for one they are replying they are EOL and no more. So if you find any new stock anywhere it is the last stock they will get. So no time to waste to get a Kronos if you want one or be prepared to buy a Nautilus.

I must point out that when the Nautilus appeared, several of us saw it was obvious the Kronos 2 was on its way out.

Interesting video so far. But this guy doesn’t know the difference between the Poly 6 and the Poly 61. I’m not familiar with this Kronos engine. Does it do both? The Poly 6 was not a synth with 2 DCOs per voice. At about 20:43, he confuses the two models.
