Korg Collection 3 for Mac and PC released

Post by Bachus »

https://youtu.be/6fIuJxTJono

NICE UPGRADE TO THE Korg Collection for Windows and mac
Now including Minikorg 700s, prophecy (including moss) and triton

Sadly no MAC M1 support yet, which also sounds typically like Korg..
In general Korg software gives me that feel of a release and forget release..
They treat their software products more like hardware, with limited upgrades
Korg Kronos 2/88 , Genos, Mainstage3 +VSTsu, ipad pro, GSi Gemini, Roland Integra 7, Jupiter Xm, Yamaha motif XS rack, Ketron SD90.

Only the "KORG Collection 3 - Full Version" contains all 11 plug-ins.

"KORG Collection 3 - Triton" for example contains only 2 plug-ins, Triton and Triton Extreme.

A market for the Triton / Triton Extreme plugins could be those who currently own a Triton keyboard who want to sell their keyboard, but also want to retain the ability to load, playback, and edit the songs and sounds they created over the decades using their Triton.

The lack of a sequencer in the plugin is not a deal-breaker, if you have the foresight to first save all of your SNG files as MIDI files before you sell your keyboard.

What is a dealbreaker, however, is not being able to reload your custom programs and combis from a saved PCG file. For some, not being able to load sample data (and the custom programs/combis to play that sample data) would also be a dealbreaker.

These plugins preserve the Intellectual Property (IP) created by Korg in these keyboards, but not the IP created by the users of these keyboards.

I'll be hanging on to my Triton Extreme. The plug-in version is not a sufficient functional replacement.

How did you upgrade from V2 - I'm not seeing an upgrade option - just a sale option of the whole thing for $299

Is there a V2 upgrade option cheaper than that?

Why have Korg skipped the O1W range - there are a number of waveforms in that instrument I'm desperate to have - and for some strange reason, they're not including it. A pity.

Don't wait for emails with coupon codes.
If you have v1 or v2 from 2017 or 2019, then check https://id.korg.com/users/codes after login. Then go to shop https://korg.shop/software/korg-collect ... ducts.html

$99 for V2 is bargain. Prophecy + miniKorg + Triton Extreme!
$149 for V1.

"The KORG Collection TRITON comes with every one of the original TRITON preset programs. All eight of the EXB-PCM expansions are included, boosting the number of programs to over 4,000."

The Triton Extreme keyboard contains all of the factory PCM ROM samples of the Triton keyboard, and most of the 8 EXB-PCM samples.

I expect what the Triton plugin offers that's not part of the Triton Extreme plugin are the same as what's different in the keyboards: 1) some Programs and Combis in the Triton factory preload data were not carried forward to TE; 2) some samples from the Triton EXB-PCMs were not carried forward to the TE built-in PCM; and 3) some Programs and Combis included as part of the individual EXB-PCM libraries were not included in the TE.

As an example of 1), if you're looking for "after-T-house" it's in the Triton at combi A033, but it's nowhere to be found in the Triton Extreme.
