Upgrade from Korg Pa1000 to Korg Pa4x?

Post by samk323 »

Hey Everyone,

I currently have a Korg Kronos 2 and a Korg Pa1000. A friend of mine messaged me, and said he has a Korg Pa4x for sale. $2,800 (61) key in excellent condition. I can sell my pa1000, and had some more and get it.

My question is, are we expecting a Korg Pa5x or any new arrangers from Korg anytime soon? I don’t want to buy this, and couple month’s later have a new Korg Pa5x or whatever it may be called come out.

Should I wait for a new arranger, or should I buy the Pa4x as we may not expect a new arranger anytime soon?

Your thoughts and suggestions are appreciated! Thank you.

Hi samk

This is just my personal view and comment...

Nobody knows Korg's plans or when we might see a new keyboard - it may not even be a PA5X.
If a "PA5X" was announced tomorrow, I would not be considering it for at least 12-18 months which, to me, seems to be a sensible "settling-in" time for new technology.

Again, my personal findings and experience is that the PA4X is stable and an incredible machine.

I can't decide for you, but at that price you are not going to lose if you sold it later.
There are lots of bonuses if you are buying from a friend too - seems like a good deal to me.

Don't know if this helps but good luck with your decision.

I know you are already experienced with your PA1000 but if there's anything you want to know about the PA4X, please just ask.

Cheers

Hey Friend,

Thank you for the reply! You’ve said it well. I also think, at the price he’s asking, it would benefit me. I’m a drummer/percussionist. Although, I do play keyboard I love making music at home or at the studio. You’re right I should probably get it, because I don’t think I can find a better price then that. And the pictures that I saw, the keyboard looked like it was brand new.

Also correct, if there were to be a new arranger I would wait for several months before I purchased it.

Thanks friend! I truly appreciate it.

Great!! and my pleasure Sam.

I too am a drummer (still very active!!) - in fact drumming is my first love (musically that is - in case my wife reads this  )

Let us know if you are successful in getting the PA4X - seriously, you'll love it.
I'll be happy to share lots of bits and pieces with you when/if you're ready.

Take it easy

Hi
I do not know where you live but here in UK conversion rate (at present ) of $2800 is £1975

A new 61 pa4x varies from £2249 a little more expensive but would come with a warranty.

Best wishes

Hey Keith,

I am in the US. A brand new one from the store (61) key costs $3,999 plus tax. So yeah at $2,800 that he’s asking and the condition it is in, seems like a great deal to me!

Hi
Couldn't agree more.
convert $3999 (excluding tax) to pounds is £2832 as I said the cost here would be £2249 ($3175) Why the big difference in price? thats without your tax, wow

yes go for it

I’m looking at used PA4X’s in the US for around about that figure from dealers. The advantage from a dealer is, you have a problem within their return window, you get your money back (possibly minus shipping).

Will your friend honor that? And for how long?

Another consideration is, does he include any third party content (styles, sample sets etc.) which may add value to the unit..? Plus, how familiar with the PA4X was he? It might not hurt to have someone you can call up and ask silly questions of (we all got ‘em!)…

Price is definitely not your only consideration… 💵💵💵

I have been waiting for a Pa5X (or whatever it will eventually be called) for over 18 months.

I will not buy a new 4X

In fact I would not buy any 61 key version, the keybed is just to restrictive when you like to use multiple Splits.

I would buy a second hand unit if it was in great condition at a good price.

There are masses of free Bonusware files available to download and install so no issue there
