Hello all,
I have a question, If I have an audio vocal track which I'd like to play a style along with it (assuming I that the vocal track has the same tempo with the style). I know it's probably impossible, but is there a work-around way to accomplish this?
Thanks
Play a Style and MP3 at the same time???

You can achieve it only by playing the MP3 externally and use the line-in so that all sound will come from the PA4X.
It is not possible to get the PA4X to run PLAY MODE and STYLE MODE simultaneously
Cheers

just saying
one of roland keyboard would play mid song and you can at the same time play any style along with it ,,, so as you midi song ,, was jazz ... you could pick a funk style or country style and it would sink to gether...
roland had this on the net ...
but not a mp3 or wave file ...

Of course there is you can use the timeslice function on the keyboard or on an external pc editor korpamanager to create a time slice samples of whatever mp3 track or wav you have. After you can either assign it to a pad or embed it on a style track.
Search on YouTube for timeslice function or read it on the manual.

I think you may be thinking of Yamaha when it comes to playing styles and SMF’s at the same time, duby, I can’t remember any Roland doing this, or if it could, it was a VERY long time ago!
I think the only Roland’s that can play audio simultaneously with a style or SMF are the BK-9, using the Key Audio feature, and the EA7 using the audio multipads or the sampler. And as the sampler only holds 128MB of .Wav data (it can’t use MP3’s as samples) it’s of limited use as you can’t load it very quickly.
MP3’s have an inherent problem syncing to any clocked arranger system, because of the start ‘frames’ not being sample accurate. Perhaps the next generation of CPU’s and data pipes will get us to where MP3’s can sync as well as they do with tablets and computers, but we aren’t there yet. Until then, only .wav’s offer tight enough start response, and then you’re up against the glacial load times unless you pre-load your entire gig needs in advance.
And don’t get me started about the difference in audio quality of tempo and pitch change software in arrangers compared to computers! These work so well that you can barely hear the difference with good computer software, but MP3 pitch and tempo algorithms in arrangers are crippled by underpowered CPU’s (and possibly unoptimized code that prioritizes real-time conversion rather than look-ahead conversion) and are all too obvious in use.
I make a point of doing any potentially needed pitch transposition and tempo changes of audio tracks in advance, on my computer, especially those getting either lower or slower. The difference is clearly audible to even the untrained ear… Let’s just hope the next generation of arranger CPU’s have the power to make this not necessary!
