Thanks, I always see posts about people putting in Samsung EVO SSDs and wondered if it was for load or access times. Does the Kronos only work with WD and Samsung?

there are some claims of saving a few seconds but I don't believe the diff is significant. The OS defines processing speed IMO.
I can confirm that there is a significant difference. At least compared to to original 2011 30GB SSD.
I know Linux, there is no "set the read speed" option in that OS.

I replaced the original 30GB SSD (Kronos-61 2011) with a 240GB WD Green SSD. The install CDs did not work. I had to clone the original drive and then expand the partition on the new drive. I do have linux computers at home, quite an easy task then.

That is what I thought, but the V2 DVDs was not able to install my 240GB drive. Had to clone the original 30GB and expand the partitions.

Hi
i can verify this ! As i said earlier i use a 1 TB sony SSD on my kronos, that i cloned over onto yhe larger drive using a startech disc cloner from the kronos original factory 60GB drive and then expanded using Gparted on a linux distro (unetbootin)run of a usb drive on a PC.
i did not however attempt to format the drive using the kronos DVD,s.
I just tried a reformat using the DVD option and the format failed.
The other options worked ok though install factory sounds etc .I should imagine that this has to do with the kronos formating software.I will try formating smaller drives later a 256 Gb and a 500 gb ille post the results.

I accidentally re-started my old thread on a similar topic, and didn't see this one.

I'm trying to upgrade my Kronos 1 SSD, or install a 2nd SSD. (Crucial m4 SSD 2.5 CT064M4SSD2)

First attempt was to clone the existing (Toshiba 30G) drive onto Crucial drive, expand the user partition, and install the Crucial in place of the Toshiba. The Kronos didn't boot with the Crucial as primary.

Not knowing what the issue was, I thought I'd just install the Crucial as a 2nd drive and leave the Toshiba unchanged. The Kronos still did not boot if the Crucial drive was connected to the 2nd SATA port. (even with all its partitions removed)

I've reviewed the various threads here on drive upgrades, and can't figure out what I've missed. Unless it is just the Crucial is incompatible with the Intel 510MO.

Anyone else working with a K1 and the Intel 510MO motherboard?

I am.
However, I have not tried to use both my drives since the 30GB drive since have a critical medium error.

Problem solved! See the other thread for details.

I still don't know why it won't boot with a 2nd drive installed (even with the 2nd drive blank/unformatted). Maybe the BIOS boot order is wrong, and it tries to boot only from the drive connected to the secondary SATA connector?

Bottom line (answering the thread title), I have successfully installed a 250G Samsung 850 SSD into a Kronos 73 (original with Intel 510MO motherboard).

I use multiple Samsung SSD Pros on as sample drives on my computer, and they're amazing....but do they offer any noticeable advantage over the EVO drives for Kronos?

I'm totally clueless about this. Also do you guys know if korg's authorized service centers do these type of upgrades? I should just pay someone to do this for me.
