New Kronos wish list

Post by leonh »

So Christmas is coming and we all have the wish list what would be the one about new Kronos better hardware or just upgraded software ?
I got mine couple of days ago and yes nearly perfect it misses the massage capabilities :D maybe new one will have that button
On the serious note when we talk newer better Kronos don’t you think that one already exist it is called Oasys so if Korg want to release new model they can just put lots of led lights like Oasys tilting screen new motherboard more memory extra polyphony extra sound engines and so on something like Yamaha did with Genos which is Tyros in steroids .
So what do you think ?

64-bit system (so it'll be possible to add more than 3GB ram).
Sequencer that can be switched seamlessly from one song to another after it ends OR sequencer that can work in Live mode until it stopped while you can switch lot of different combis. Or some mechanism to fast switch combi preset inside SEQ mode.

PIANO ROLL

More USB inputs (at least 4), more physical inputs (XLR+jack as in OASYS).

Increase boot time somehow

It's easy : just buy an usb hub. It's cheap and works well.
I'm using this one : https://www.amazon.com/UGREEN-Portable- ... dpSrc=srch

A tenth engine, would be cool : for example, a true analog built-in module (as Roland did in the JD XA)

Oh, I've meant digital inputs from external notebook.
And native ASIO drivers for Kronos will be also good option :)

Mostly, the Kronos is great and we need more of the same. Greater sound quality (96KHz, 24 bit? Maybe more?), more of the good stuff with respect to manipulating samples and audio tracks, built-in pads.

Piano roll and a clip arranger view would be excellent.

Some kind of performance sequencer along the lines of an arranger that you program yourself, such as what Casio has in their XW-P1, taken to the next level, would be awesome as well.

But on the deeper level, their next big workstation should be a step away from the updated M1 model. They need to rethink the structure of the whole device, as well as its monolithic existence. For someone who's dragging a device to a gig, all-in-one is a boon. For a studio queen, it's an absurd and irrelevant limitation.

* Integrated pads (like Oasys)
* Autoload SEQs
* A deal between the makers of Neo Ventilator with Korg to have the Neo algorithms on board
* Globally programmable arpeggiator (without having to buy Karma software)
* More easily accessible network/FTP facility (never got it working)

- 64bit for more ram
- one more expression pedal input
- leds around the knobs and inside faders
- option to load samples on demand, like in the Alesis Fusion. You select a program and if it uses samples (which are not preloaded) kronos will automatically load those. That is not practical for live usage but for studio work would give imediate access to all sounds
- unlimited banks and unlimited programs inside a bank
- bigger touchscreen or external monitor output and mouse input for easier editing
- easier sample management with ability to select a program and export it with the associated samples easily
- ability to export a single program
- asio drivers with fully working audio interface integrated
- internal wifi
- easy way to save all your sounds and samples to a pendrive or external hd and connect that to a rented kronos and use your sounds as intended
- libraries you buy should be allowed to be transferred to other kronos' you eventually buy and to be used on rented instruments
- polyphonic aftertouch
- more powerful processor to allow for more effects and polyphony
- vox and farfisa engines
- assignment of keyswitches for articulations and for other tasks
- 32 instrument combis

And more than ever Korg : Please Please Please ! : The possibility to have not to repeat 3 time the title of a song for saving it. Make a copy/paste function for that. We are in 2017 ! :D I think so !

I agree with the list, I would like to add some more features

- 32 midi tracks
- possibility to have native ifx on each program when used in COMBI or SEQ mode
- Graphic step seq for drum (see the link of fruity loop mobile, is an amazing software for 18€)

- to use POSEIDON name for next WS .... after all POSEIDON in Greek mythology was TRITON'S father :D

For 32 midi tracks, more Polyphony would be needed . Then more processing power, more of ...

Its like throwing a pebble in a pond and watching the ripples expand :

No one has mentioned it, I think Korg could easily drop the price on the K2.
In addition, I suspect they are enjoying numerous efficiencies on the assembly/production side.

If I was President, I would take that profit per unit and invest it into a much stronger, current W/s.

Of course, this is only my sense of fairness and interest in a much more robust W/s.

That would be a nice reward for us very loyal Korg customers.

A well respected Kronos owner and talented sample lib author mentioned it was his opinion that Korg is taking the 10 year cycle approach on a robust W/s.

That could well be the case but a business approach like that is much different then my sentiment.

Cue list feature
Piano Roll Editor
Better importing of Standard MIDI files - instead of placing Program and controller data as MIDI events in a track, import them directly into the controls in the Play/Rec page.
Import SNG files from the M3, M50, & Triton Series.
New Physical Modeling engine - brass or Woodwind
Faster Processor - eliminate the screen lag
An option to turn off the illuminated joystick
