Ensoniq KT-88 , Help , Repair ....Cleaning contact strips

Post by Ajara »

Hi. I need to clean the contact strips underneath the keys of a KT-88 keyboard..Does anybody know how to get there.? I tried to open the keyboard but can only access it from below... I don't know how to open the top.....and have no idea how to get underneath the keys.
I know it's an old bird, but does anybody has any idea or suggestions where I can look for help ?

Is this "Latest News"? It's been posted in the wrong part of the forum.

Cleaning rubber contact strips is largely a waste of time, since their failure is most often due to the conductive contact coating wearing away. Cleaning the contacts will only make it worse, by rubbing even more of the material away. Replacement is usually the best option.

I know that the issue is most properly a bit out of place here.. and I did not know where exactly to post this.
The contact strips are fine btw..... I sprayed by mistake some oil into them ... don't ask :) ....they are just dirty.
All I need is some help in order to find somebody who has an idea how to open the Ensoniq KT 88 , ,mechanically speaking, and get the keybed out. The keyboard opens apparently only from underneath and it looks like a nightmare to get to the keybed.

I know the Keyboard is a dinosaur , but I love it and like to fix it.
If you by chance know somebody....or have some idea whom I can ask....I'd appreciate the help.

Hi Ajara, try contact thesoniq.com or syntaur.com.

They both have user manuals, and must have service manuals, too, or they can help to repair your keyboard.

Thanks Akos btw.
One of the links took me to a guy in the States who helped me to resolve the issue and I manage to fix the problem.
