New to Kronos - totally blown away.
Greetings.
After many years and many workstations, I've finally gotten a Kronos.
Kronos-61, updated to 3.1.
It took me a long time to save up and find one I could afford.
Sorry to sound like such a noob, but wow!
I've had Trinity, Triton Rack, M3 Motif XS, Roland FA-06, but none of them, could come up such an "HD" sound. I was playing around with pads and sweeps, never have I heard such a wide and gigantic, crystal sound stage, so much depth. I was like my studio was tuned into a giant pair of IEMs.
Right now I've got it paired with a Yamaha EX5 and a KX88 controller.
Again, sorry for such a basic post. I'm just so enthralled by my new (old) "toy".. I had to talk about it.
Looking forward to more exploration.

Hi there,
Congrats on the new machine and welcome ! Just bought a K2 88 last October and indeed just like you found out, I also think it's the most amazing keyboard I ever owned.
I mainly play classical piano but enjoy all the rest too, including the Hammond organs, synths, choirs, etc.
Have fun and if you have questions, this forum is the best place to find answers !

Kronos 2 or PA4x
Can you advise why someone would buy a Kronos 2 rather than a PA4x?
We all shine on like the moon, and the stars, and the sun!
This Korg video may help put a perspective on the differences between arrangers and workstations:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UGANVTsDKH4
What comes out of comparing various aspects of each type of keyboard over the years is that, overall, arrangers are perhaps best suited to a regular, diverse range of established styles of music genres, and provide a highly functional "band in a box" solution. Workstations seem better suited to producing a wide range of innovative music styles and sounds, and Karma can help to take that a stage further. Both types have a good range of bread and butter instruments, and both can have that range expanded using sound libraries.
In situations where a PA4x and Kronos are used together, the Kronos seems to be favoured for the main lead sounds and melody, whilst the PA4x has the job of keeping the basic rhythm and accompaniment going.
Listen/watch as many demos as possible, look at notable users of each type of keyboard and how they use them, and form an opinion. My leaning would be towards the Kronos, but it is all down to personal preference.

Any newby help please?
Super new to the board and keyboards. Just bought a brand new Kronos 2 61 today. I'm so excited but after about an hour I realize I only have 31 preset sounds. There has to be more. What am I doing wrong? version 3.0.4

That sounds like someone saved over the Factory programs. Are you sure that it is new, as in untouched by someone at the store you bought it from? At any rate, you can go to DISK mode and locate the FACTORY folder. Load the FACTORY ALL.PCG. That should fill your banks with over 2,000 programs and hundreds of combis.Spokeband wrote:I'm so excited but after about an hour I realize I only have 31 preset sounds. There has to be more. Thanks for the reply. The box was opened and I was told that was all. It did appear to be untouched but you may be onto something. Anyway I will try to follow your much appreciated advice. Do I need to be hooked up to the internet or be using CD's or anything with your suggestion? I will try looking at the menu now.Mike Conway wrote:That sounds like someone saved over the Factory programs. Are you sure that it is new, as in untouched by someone at the store you bought it from?
