Post by Snorkum »

Can you guys recommend some good speakers for the PA900.
The only stupid questions are the questions that have not been asked.

I use Behringer MS40. They are "Active 2-way studio monitors". You can conect 3 sources of signal in the same time. One digital and 2 analog. They have digital converters, 24 bit.
Another good choice is Alesis Elevate 5.
You can check how they sound on youtube.

Thanks Angelitto. Both look good and I can get them for $150/pair. Both cost the same. Now the question is which ones are better.
As long as they are better than the build in speakers from Korg.

On paper, Beringer is better, but i think Alesis are more acurate. I don't know about Presonus (Nemik's choise).
For my needs, even the Alesis are better, i prefered MS40 because i can connect them with my pa3xle and my PC (toslink) in the same time. And if the next generation of PA's have digital output (like pa3x), i'm covered :D

Frequency response
Alesis: 55Hz - 20000Hz
Behringer: 50Hz - 25000Hz
Presonus: 70Hz - 20000Hz

Think carefully, check the internet for reviews and only after that take a decision.

Most likely any Studio Monitors Speakers will better that build in.
but...
Speakers and Headphone are very important, this is finally shape of your music.
If you don't hear right, you not available to play right.
Happen to me, on beginning I try to be cheap and use cheap Audio, then when I got better ones, I had to remastering all my songs.
First you need check how big speakers you need, is all depend on room size.
Then decide how much money you want to put into Speakers.
I got Presonus, but I'm not saying the best, I chose them because this company is in Sound Monitoring and Recording business, they don't try do all.
They very good at this.
Behringer,... they OK, but when I try in Store didn't sound right, Presonus was way better.
Alesis, personally I stay away from this manufacturer, I got 6 products from them, 3 returned same day, 2 fail a little after warranty expired, 100 % sure I will never buy anything from them, I don't wanna even for free.
Alesis don't have even own customer support, they use inMusic Brand for support, and they SUCK, I almost sue them.
Long story short ... Alesis is like Black & Decker in tool industry, all look good until you start use them. [-X
Best way for you is get to Guitar Center and try there, then you can order online (cheaper, no tax, free shipping ).
Me, now if I have to buy again I get KRK Rokit Powered 6" Generation 3 Powered Studio Monitor , which is twice more that my Presonus, but again, sound is very important, at least for me.

P.S. Warning: If you get good Monitors speakers a lot of styles gonna sound bad, because you gonna hear everything. :P
... but that's the point, using good monitors is like wearing reading glasses.

Nemik, thanks for the detailed explanations. Which makes a lot of sense.
Matter of fact, before I read your post, I was looking at the KRK Rokit Powered 6" Generation 3 Powered Studio Monitor . They have good customer reviews.
There is still some time for research I have to do. However, I appreciate both of your inputs which is very important.
Thank you
HAPPY NEW YEAR

I am looking at some Presonus Eris 5 and KRK Rokit 6 monitor speakers.
Any comments are welcomed.
I have read a lot of reviews, comments and hopefully I can listen
to them in our local guitar center.
