How to change sustain on left hand

Post by Jameson »

Hello,

I am really confused. My new pa3x le always has a sustain with the left hand when in split mode. I already turned off any effects but the sustain still remains. Any idea?

Thanx,
Roger

Menu ---> Keyboard/Ensemble ---> Kbd Control
there is where you enable Damper, by default Lower is disable and all Upper enable.

Thank you. I already found and checked it. But thats not the problem. Maybe I should say its not a real sustain (as with damper) but more like a room reverb or something. I did set all reverb off and the right part of the keyboard sounds as intended. But the left side still has that slight sustain.

Edit: Guess I found the problem. Its the Track-Control. Now I just have to figure out how to set a different setting as standard.

Can you tell which sound you got on left (lower)?
Also is in Global --> General --> Basic --> Global Reverb setting, by default 0
Sound assign to Lower can have in Menu --> Track Controls --> Easy Edit to much Release.

Thanks a lot Nemis,

you are right. Track control was the problem (I searched for days already). Is this setting a default setting (factory) or did the pre-owner of the keyboard change that (I bought it used)?

Parameter EasyEdit/Release is nothing global, but depends on performances/STS - really seems to be only a solution for some few performances.

In most cases if there always is sustain with the left hand when in split mode, then Memory-Mode in Style-Preferences seems to be set to Chord-Lower oder FixedArr+Lower and function "Memory" is active.

Lower track do not sustain if you deactivate Memory or you set Memory Mode to "Chord". You will find settings in Pa3xLe unter GlobalMode / Preferences / StylePlay.

PS: Unfortunately StylePreferences since Pa300 / 600 / 900 / 3xLe / 4x only can be stored globally, so ChordRecognition, VelocityControl, MemoryMode and Bass / LowerBacking can no longer be stored in performance /STS. Predecessor models were much more flexible, because for global use you could restrict these functions with simple "Style Preferences Locks"!
kind regards

FixArr+Lower is great, my favorite Memory Mode.
When Memory is Active is more like Hold that Sustain, is like continues Sustain.
Also Memory can be trigger ON/OFF by Velocity Control or via Midi Message PC #98 (in my case foot controller).

Easy Edit parameters is stored in STS/Performance, doesn't change anything in Original Sound, which giving good way to customize STS.

Korg PA are very flexible and has many ways to make your playing how you like it, everybody can have own ways, but is good to know all possibilities.

Sorry, do not understand 'Original Sound' in this comment (maybe you mean Keyboard Sound). For me EasyEdit is one of the most important sound design options for KeyboardSound and also for BackgroundSound that can be done without to use soundeditor (edit / memorize additional Pcg-files).

For example with EasyEdit you can shorten or lengthen the envelope of the lower track sound for your left hand, or make the bass-track-sound of the styleplayer more powerful or crisp.

Of course one use "Lower" for Memory-Mode Lower sound
is held until the next note or chord is played - it is not the same effect you get if you extend lower-track with release parameter (max +63) what means to get a real sustain instead of a memory-hold-function.

In case using EasyEdit to shorten decay (-36) of bass-track you get a crisp/dry bass of styleplayer at same time one can make it more powerful with attack (+39).

So differently accentuated background-sounds in styleplay are possible in STS, what else is not realizable in styleplay without editing / memorizing variations of styleplayer.

Original Sound I meant Sound assign, Easy Edit no effecting parameters is stored in Sound, of course is working with them, but doesn't change permanently setting, is only initialize when you call STS, then release and reset values.
