Are you using a Kronos 88?

Let me revise and extend my previous remarks. Since you obviously want to use the Kronos keyboard to play Kronos sounds & the hx3, you should set the Timbre for the hx3 to the global Channel in the combination and also set the Timbres for the Kronos sounds to the Global channel. If you want to layer the sounds of both the Kronos and the hx3 you should be good to go. If you want to do splits you will have to go into the midi filters page and define the key range for the Kronos and the hx3. There is also a lot of filtering you can do in the 3 midi filter tabs such as disabling the damper or the pedal for each Timbre. Selecting programs as I described earlier will stay the same with the exception of the midi Channel. The HX3 should be on the global Channel. You will probably still need to use Bank Select messages for the HX3, depending on its midi implementation. I hope this helps you a bit.

Kronos to Hx3

Post by jerrymac50 »

I want to thank you for your help. I understand what your saying. Layering I can get it to do that and the pc will change the Hx3. When both units are using the same midi ch. What I would like to happen which I'm beginning to think not possible is to get the Hx3 to not layer so when I hit a organ patch on kronos I want it to be dedicated Hx3 in a certain patch or program bank no layering no turning down the Kronos sounds all thou you do get some real nice layers when you use both. As I run the Hx3 lets say on ch 9 kronos on ch 9 I can see the HX3 receiving some kind of midi messages because its always going back to program zero which is a live patch that changes the sounds to what i don't want . Then I need to manually reset the Hx3 to what I want. All I need it to do is to go to the next bank setting let say like the XK1 the next button saved patch. Now this may not be a Kronos problem it might be a Diversi Hx3 short cumming. Not excepting certain midi controls.

A Combination is the way to do this. Set List doesn't let you define external program changes. A Combination will. A Set List Slot is a reference to a Combination, Program or Sequence with a few other parameters available, like volume and transposition.
