Kross 61 (Some Questions)

Post by DirectShift »

Hello everyone! I'm about to buy this great keyboard but I have some questions!

1 - How versatile are the split and layer functions? for example... can I do this...? (splitting and layering at the same time all over the keyboard)

Split A = 2 layers of instruments
Split B = 1 instrument
Split C = 3 layers of instruments
Split D = 2 layers of instruments

2 - How does the favorites functions works? what does it save? My question is, lets say that I create 5 new "instruments" that have they characteristics modified (volume or tonality or pitch) and some of them are splits, some of them are layers, and some of them combination of both... can I save them on the favorites bank?

3 - Can I save my set of favorites on an sd card? So that I can access it later?

As you can see, all of these questions are related. I want to know how powerful it is on stage...

Thank you!

- yes, you can have up to 16 programs/"instrument" split and layered any way you want across the keyboard. this is called a Combi.

2 - How does the favorites functions works? what does it save? My question is, lets say that I create 5 new "instruments" that have they characteristics modified (volume or tonality or pitch) and some of them are splits, some of them are layers, and some of them combination of both... can I save them on the favorites bank?
- yes, you can save your Combi as a favorite. the favorites also save information from the sequencer data and the audio player.

3 - Can I save my set of favorites on an sd card? So that I can access it later?
- i'm not sure if you can save just the favorites to an sd card, but you can save a snapshot of your entire keyboard settings as a pcg file, which you can save to the sd card and load whenever you need it. you can, save up to 64 favorites (16 buttons x 4 banks) on your keyboard.

rammstein already gave some good answers, but let me get into some more detail.

1: There are actually TWO ways you can do splits and layers. The first way is the splits/layers button. Press that, select 2 sounds, done. This is the quick & easy way, that's why you can only use 2 sounds. And then there is the combination mode. Here you can use up to 16 different sounds and combine them however you want, as multiple splits and/or layers. This takes a little more time and efford, but it's amazing what you can do with that. I did some videos about combis: https://youtu.be/EjLT8ZsXjVg?list=PLrGc ... Dej_41nbaq

2: Favorites function is very easy: You just assign programs (sounds), combis or wav files to the number buttons, so you have quick access, let's say in a live-on-stage-situation. Video: https://youtu.be/3OYZY-_zK50?list=PLrGc ... Dej_41nbaq

3: Yes. You can save EVERYTHING on an sd card. When you select "save all", everything that's currently in your Kross will be saved.

Let us know when you got your Kross and what you think about it!
