Currently a Roland A90, Integra7 and V synth XT. And when space allows, a Vsynth GT and Jupiter80.
However, am furiously programming and sampling on my new Kronos 88 in order to replace the A90 and Integra 7. The XT will be incorporated as I use the vocal modelling on it which far exceeds the Kronos' vocoder capabilities.
Oh yes, there's also a Roland AX7 on wireless midi.

Korg Kronos 2 88, Roland: JP80, Integra 7, V synth GT, V synth XT, MKS70, JD990 x2, A90 x3, JD800, D70, AX7 x2, A110, A880. Access Virus Ti. Yamaha DX7 & KX5. Casio VL Tone.
Another vote for the PX5S and a KronosX-61 on top. Also use the USB midi to control and layer the Kronos form the Casio....who would ever had thought!

For an "old guy" cover band:

for prax, I just bring the Kronos and use the organ patches from that, not bad, I just prefer the Hammond for when you really want that sound.[/code]
on top is Hammond SK1
on bottom is Kronos 2 76

Bass and keyboard player, not usually at the same time, but sometimes in the same song!
Boards: Kronos 2, and Hammond SK1
Basses: Fender, G&L

It's scalable, but for the electronic ambient/downtempo stuff with my musical partner, it could be almost any combination of:
Kronos 61
Moog Voyager
Korg Z1
Nord Lead 3
Roland SH101
Nord Wave
Nord G2
I may be the exception around here though due to genre.
I did stand-in on keys with a relatively big UK band before I bought the Kronos. To begin with, I took everything out, because I didn't know exactly what was going to be thrown at me. It ultimately scaled back to Voyager and Triton Extreme.

Re: How many keyboards for playing out live
Depending on the setup, I always have one "master keyboard" (OASYS 88 or K2-88 ). On a side, it can vary, I have a couple of gigging racks - one with TR-RACK and Auria, one with TRITON RACK, one with Integra 7 and MacBook Pro+ Universal Audio Apollo. But I'm a firm believer in carrying only one physical keyboard, as powerful as possible. This also takes the least amount of space on the stage as I used to carry 2-3 keyboards, racks, separate guitar racks and guitars... it just wasn't the way to go.Cobra Jet wrote:I just thought I would ask the group how many and what type of keyboards you use for live performances?

I've used everything from just a Pianet T and Omni-2 to 5 stands with 13 keyboards on them in the 80's. Nowadays, in the funk band I use a K-88, and an Emu x-board 61 (run off of the Kronos). For my Genesis project, K-88/Prophet 12/Emulator 2+HD, Roland A70, RMI 368, Emu Esynth, Arp Pro soloist, MS200r, Esynth rack,Emulator 4, and 2 Emu ESI32's.

Kronos 2 as main board and one of the following depending on my mood:
Prophet 12
Prophet 6
OB6
Virus Ti2
KingKorg
So for me it is two keyboards with the Kronos always being one of the pair.

Nice rig.
I wish I had the chops to do Tony Banks, a hero of mine. It's classic Genesis for me of course: Selling England, most of the Lamb (would have made a great single album), A Trick of the Tail and Wind and Wuthering. They lost something when Hackett left IMHO, having survived Gabriel's departure reasonably well with two very strong albums
For my Welsh Floyd gig (guess the tribute
) it's a Yamaha EX5 as my main controller and still some sounds it does best, and Kronos as the top tier, which is doing about 95% of my sounds these days in that gig.
