Electribe 2 Sample - Use samples as waveforms/synthesizer

Post by dtard »

How's it going everyone,

I know this has probably been asked before, but i can't seem to find the thread so I'll ask again.

On my OP-1, I can take a sample in synthesizer mode, and cut it down to one small cycle and use it as a waveform/oscillator. Is there something comparable on the E2S? I just got this thing yesterday and I love it, but this would add a whole other level to its functionality.

Thanks for the help!

Since there is no option to trim samples on the box, I make my single cycles on the computer first.
In sample edit mode you can set the start and end points as well as loop start point to make your sample loop.

That sounds like the best way to do it. Is all you need 1 cycle? So I'd generate my sounds from whatever synth I wanted, then cut it down to 1 cycle in something like edison?

You want to make sure your cycles are tuned to C. I don't have my notes with me but i think the length is going to be a multiple of 678 (ie 339, 678 or 1356, maybe someone else can chime in with the right numbers if I got it wrong?) cycles for a 44.1k sample rate.
Also check out the sample editors... Both of them. They let you import as a loop and tune/ transpose your loops to the same octave that the key pads are playing. Very handy for tweaking a full load of samples and much quicker than doing it in the e2s.

Here's a link to an old post with a bunch more info and I think even a link to the massive adventure kid single cycles pack tuned to c by a user here...

The value for C for 44.1 is 674. Also, using multiples of this number you can get far more complex waves that will also be tuned to C, up to a certain point. I did a detailed tutorial about it here:

..and the chart with all values, for every pitch, at multiple sample rates, can be found on my SnowMetal Facebook page here:

Damn dude thanks! I actually watched a few of your videos before trading in my e2 for the sampler version, the legato breaks video was dope.

Thanks for the help everyone!
