88 note Keyboard touch and response

Post by yoshi88 »

I own a number of KORG 88 note keyboards as I prefer the piano feel.

Compared to a Trinity 88, Triton Ex 88 Korg o1W pro X , Yamaha 88 Motifs and Roland 88 note models.... I found the Korg Krome to be responsive b ut extremely sludgey, slow and heavy.... as if it is loaded with a sticky viscous liquid oil. Very inappealing.

Question is ... is this a one off or are they all like that????

The keybed on the KRonos is different and similar to others.

They're all like that.

It's a different keybed from the one used in the Kronos.

the krome 88 keybed improves with time and play. from factory the keybed is well filled with lithum grease as a lubricant. with a bit of use it seems to thin out and play a little more quickly than the straight from factory feel.

and just fyi, it is the same keybed as the korg sp-170.

i have to say korme 88 has a heavier keybed than kronos.....
krome 88 is more like real acoustic piano feel...
but and one big fact about korg product is great sounds great program but really weak keys.....
i really dont know why????
i test NH and RH3 and on both of this models you get clicky and noisy key sound after some use.....even on semi weight model....
you can find many videos on youtube about krome or kronos keybed problem,,,,
GOOD LUCK,,,,,

Click keys is an easy fix. If you're comfortable with a screwdriver and lithium grease..

I tested a Krome 88 at Guitar Center. I found that the keys felt very cheap (very unsolid) compared to the same tier Yamaha MOXF 88 or Roland FA-08. The biggest gripe was that when releasing the keys, the keys felt loose and there was an audible slap.

Was it just a defective floor model? Or is that how the Krome 88 is designed?
