Do not forget to check the firmaware and to upgrade the Firmware to 1.03 / 1.07 if it is necessary (did you do it?)mihata wrote:DEEPMOSES, there are 2 posts in the forum describing the click issues you can find them easily by keywords, I sat this morning trying those and indeed clicks are there - true, you can manage by keeping mono, reducing levels, +attack -...
Also I just tried in completely different power socket at home and still there is a static audio noise when in power safe mode and at the half of the volume knob I can hear an.....
PLEASE someone tell me, is it normal to have such background noises, or if you know the post where this was discussed (some ppl were showing some graphs from a specialized software)

Regarding the clicks -
Your best bet is to cycle between mono and poly, as well as types 1 and 2. Adjusting volume levels has nothing to do with the clicks. they're caused by retriggering with sounds w/ a long release....likewise Attack won't really do anything. So you'll have to lower the decay/release if you're using Amp/Eg.
I really can't wait (and/or hope) til Korg fixes this because as you said, it does limit your sculpting. But for now I've learned to live with it and work around. THere's definitely many ways to overcome this. For example, one trick you can do is to put on an IFX filter, which will mask the click (since it comes after the amp/eg section in the signal flow).

Ok, thanks for clarifying, I get it now. So if you retrigger the sound before the release has ended you'll get a click, the higher the amplitude of the wave when you retrigger the louder the click right? So now my question is; is this only when playing the pads or during playback as well?roblabs wrote:Regarding the clicks -

Hmmm... I must admit my enthusiasm for getting one is quickly waining...

Ok, Thanks Rob.
I think that's about as much I'm going to get without actually trying one, but I have to say when putting all the info together I'm kind of put off.
I was initially sold on getting an ESX SD, just seems a more complete instrument to me. Decisions decisions...

The clicksare my number one complaint with the e2, because the sound quality is utterly amazing at it's price point. Apparently in the next update the clicks, among other things, will be fixed. Maybe wait until the update before deciding if you want one. (Last news update was it was due out in July)DEEPMOSES wrote:Ok, Thanks Rob.

I'll be watching this space for a little while longer for sure... after all I think looks great, I want to love it!

One workaround I've used for the clicks is to put the same sound on 2 tracks and alternate the one playing, record the odd half of the pattern on one track and the even half on a second. This often gives the sound time to decay before retriggering. It's not perfect, but it is a workaround.

Yup that defo works. I've done this for instance when I need a quick succession of kicks without the clicks lol.Frenzies wrote:One workaround I've used for the clicks is to put the same sound on 2 tracks and alternate the one playing, record the odd half of the pattern on one track and the even half on a second. I like it, good thinking, but tweaking the cutoff on a bass line across two tracks will be tricky....Frenzies wrote:One workaround I've used for the clicks is to put the same sound on 2 tracks and alternate the one playing, record the odd half of the pattern on one track and the even half on a second. Are the same issues present on the es2 on sampled sounds?

It will, it will be impossible, but you could come up with something entirely new sounding by only being able to tweak 1 at a time, or you could motion sequence one of them.DEEPMOSES wrote:I like it, good thinking, but tweaking the cutoff on a bass line across two tracks will be tricky....Frenzies wrote:One workaround I've used for the clicks is to put the same sound on 2 tracks and alternate the one playing, record the odd half of the pattern on one track and the even half on a second. Yeah, I love a long 808 kick and the clicks can be really horrible, so I've used it on kick tracks too.roblabs wrote:Yup that defo works. To me this highlights one of the strengths of the e2....how you can literally assign any part to be whatever you want, a duplicate, a continuation of another part, etc. Now I'm not saying that we should HAVE to do this to deal with the clicks....obviously Korg needs to fix this along with some other bugs and glitches....but I think its cool how you have the freedom to do whatever you want with each part...Frenzies wrote:Yeah, I love a long 808 kick and the clicks can be really horrible, so I've used it on kick tracks too.roblabs wrote:Yup that defo works.
