Volca Sample build quality

Post by ghostly606 »

Is there a large variation in the build quality of the Volca Sample?

Just had the most unpleasant eBay transaction with an unreasonable buyer who returned it saying that the knobs were almost broken and that it shut itself off. I thought it must have been damaged in transit but on receiving it back the knobs are in exactly the same condition as when I bought it (i.e. quite wobbly) and it doesn't shut itself off (I suspect he didn't realise the auto power off feature). Very frustrating to get negative feedback over a fully functional item!

Anyway, he says he bought a new one and it is a lot better. Before I stick it on eBay again I want to check that mine isn't faulty. If it is I can take it back as it's still under guarantee.

So, are you happy with the build quality of the Volca Sample?

i do find the bass and treble knobs to be wobbly, and the rest can be a bit temperamental: if i am turning any parameter knob on the second or third row, the knob above, if slightly touched or grazed by a finger, will respond with a full or half increment.

but these issues are not so major that i would consider the knobs to be broken.

i think it's maybe a mixture of buyer's remorse and attempts to find a valid reason for return, especially if they found their new one for an equal to or better price. :/

Yes, I suspect the buyer ended up with two and I got the raw end of the deal. Ah well. Thanks!
