Better DAW integration

Hi,
in the editor of KRONOS is the function to export the patchlist.
In Cakewalk I can import the file, and WOW I can choose the sounds I want through selecting the name.
But in Cubase it doesnt work, or I make something wrong.
Can anybody help me, I dont want to write and patch 1000 sound names

I wished i could use Kronos mainly for DAW integration.After 15 months since buying it there is still no 64 bit integration.Kronos sounds great, but the lack of integration is making it useless for me.

So today i sold it.

Keep up the good work with customers KORG...

Still wayting on an answer from Dan at Korg or any other official... I think Korg should be more open about their development goals for the Kronos.

(Tough the same goes for all other major brands)

It boggles me how many of the software companies tend to break with this rules, communicate more open with fans about their goals and end up doing better then companies hanging on to a closed company pollicy..

I doubt you will hear from Dan about this because of NDA which means one can lose their job commenting and I don't blame him or anybody else for not wanting to comment under those circumstances.

Offcourse he will not react, and offcourse he is not to blame..

But dont you agree that it would be more fair against the customers if they where more open in their communication about possible upcomming features... Or nonfeatures?

I don't think anyone means to blame Dan, who gets on here in his free time and always tries to help out.

But I agree it is a pretty dumb move to release the new Kronos and OS without a working editor, which is part of the sales pitch.
You'd think they'd have learned from the first time. I dunno, maybe they will release a really kickass custom editor with 64 bit support, sample editing and audio/VST integration this time (I can dream!) and it will all be worth it, but it's still a pretty strange way of communicating with customers.

I should have said I understand rather than blame. The point again is you can't expect Dan or Rich to comment on this because of NDA. I agree with what Sander just said earlier

To complete the DAW integration, I suggest to use the SPDIF Out of the Kronos.
Most of audio card, even poor integrated chips have a SPDIF optical Input.

I'd keep USB cable for MIDI exchanges and use SPDIF for audio only.
Then I can palyback each part from the DAW with no restrictions...

I joined Qui for MIDI integration and I probably add a SYSEX to change to COMBI mode before the Bank/Program Change.

A while ago, I was very surprised to find out that the Kronos SPDIF is not compatible with the optical inputs of my Focusrite Scarlett 18i6.

So I definitely can't recommend that as standard interface solution for DAW integration.

spdif is a single channel protocol... For daw integration you want multi channel audio up and down. Firewire was a great interface for multi channel audio.. Its also possible over USB..

What kind of issue did you have, Jim? I'm surprised to hear that too.

I just checked my old emails with Focusrite, and I noticed my issue was more complex than I remembered:

- I had my Access Virus TI keyboard connected with the Scarlett over SPDIF
- I wanted to connect my Kronos digitally as well, and wanted to connect the Kronos optical SPDIF out to the additional Scarlett optical input. But the Scarlett optical input only receives ADAT and not SPDIF

So it may be possible to connect Kronos SPDIF with Sarlett SPDIF. But I have no converter cable from the optical Kronos ports to the coaxial Scarlett SPDIFs to check that.

Has anybody with a Kronos/Focusrite combination tried that?

Oh weird, you can almost always switch the optical input to S/PDIF but I'm sure you looked for a setting like that. Annoying, for sure!
