There has been some talk that you can use the 16 pads on the es2 to chop up and edit your samples. This seems like a really nice feature...for those of you who own a KP3, you can do the same thing when you hold shift + a sample bank and then turn off steps of the recording. Or similar to the Time Slice function on the es1 (think the esx also had this?)
It got me thinking - if the es2's interface is supposedly identical to the e2's, then this will have to be a menu option. Or will it? Suppose the Chord button is replaced with this?
As this will likely be a heavily used function, it should in theory have its own dedicated button for this. Or a shortcut. The only shortcut I can see is Step Edit - perhaps they will embed it there? You wouldn't want to menu dive for this function, and more than anything this seems to be on par with the other modes.
What do you think?

My guess is that it would be a special function of the sequence button / option only accessed when you choose Audio In (or they may rename it Sample) as your oscillator.
I was messing with my Kaossilator Pro the other night and noticed how how if this was the sampler the Attack and Decay knobs would act as a start and end points to your sample. With the the sequence portion can be used to chop up the sound much in the same way as the E2 does now with Audio in.
If this is how a sample is recorded I can totally see how the structure of the Electribe will make this a really intuitive live sampler.
I think the only thing I can think of is if when you sample a sounds live is if it just names that sample something like " SMP-1 " and numerically down the line until you have time to rename the sampled sounds or phrases you wish to keep.
