Kronos X 73 Bad motherboard

A few latest information that might help you :
- Latest Kronos OS DVDs contain calibration linux partition information and the final procedure is only OS activation.
- You can successfully install Kronos OS in most latest SATA 3 SSDs (up to 240 Gb)
- You can directly replace motherboard with any industrial Intel ATOM 525 with intel latest Bios
(probably by 90 % with any latest Atom series)
- You can run directly on ATOM motherboard any diagnostic tools via intel's Bios , connecting a screen ,
a keyboard and a Sata DVD drive.

i have done re-seating the ram stick, installing a new ram stick, install a new SSD and all other things described in other posts and still "system start-up failure". i'm also unable to boot from the usb-dvd drive, so I'm suspecting i have a bad MB, am I right ? And this all happened 2 days after I successfully installed OS 3.02

Attach a USB mouse/keyboard and VGA monitor to the motherboard inside the Kronos (After it's been taken apart) and see what happens when you try and boot it from there. As it's an Intel motherboard, you should be able to see if there are any BIOS errors present that could be preventing the motherboard from starting. If you turn it on and there's no output whatsoever, there's a possibility that the motherboard may be broken as well.
It might make sense to completely unseat the motherboard from within the Kronos and put it in a computer case with a power supply (Treat it like a regular computer from this point) to see if it's capable of booting outside the Kronos, and then go from there. If the mobo is totally dead, you know what needs to be replaced. If it's not, then hopefully being able to see the BIOS will reveal any issues that could be preventing the Kronos from launching.
Something as simple as the CMOS battery going dead would reset the BIOS and you could be getting a "Keyboard not detected" type error where the setting for that usually would be suppressed as a setting in the BIOS itself.
Just speculation but that's what I would be looking for initially supposing the mobo worked outside the Kronos.

New Intel D510MO mobo arrived, installed it and my Kronos is alive again! Out of the box, the mobo worked immediately with the old SSD and old ram.
Took me time to figure out which screws to take out because it was mounted on a bracket. Three out of the 5 connectors were glued in so I had to carefully wiggle it out.

Actually, controls which use A/D (Joysticks, sliders, knobs, etc.) are calibrated at the factory, and the results of the calibration are stored on the disk. Without calibration, they will more or less work, but may be off a bit. They can be re-calibrated by authorized service centers if necessary.eugenepris wrote:I am not aware of any calibration files that have to be loaded. It bears repeating, folks: the KRONOS is not designed for user servicing. All service should be done by authorized service centers, who should have both the necessary skills and the necessary information to do things properly, and make sure that your instrument continues to work as intended.

fpar, congratulations on the install of your new motherboard and getting your board up and running again. You are an inspiration to us all. Now we will not be so frightened if something like this should happen to us. I already have my spare motherboard here. I bought it the same time I bought the Kronos. You know, just in case. I guess in this case it was just.

That's obvious , Installer can't calibrate any particular Kronos , only factory settings are created in SSD partition.

Without manual calibration, the instrument probably won't perform completely properly.
