ESX 1 or 2 question: Sample independent of Pattern

Post by Flaco »

Hello,

I am curious if I can have one sample looping independently of a saved 4 bar pattern? For example, let's say I want to play a 1 minute-long sample over a 4 bar pattern is only 20 seconds long. Will the independent sample cut off and start over once the pattern loops back to the first bar?

Thanks.

A loop is the same as an one shot sample. Both are triggered by steps who are lit, so after 4 bars, the active step retriggers the loop. So no, you cannot loop a sample over more than 4 bars, unless you trigger it manually.

Sorry my wording was a bit misleading, I mentioned 4 bars because that's the max length on the new sampler.

i was wondering if I could do what I was doing with my old set-up which included the EMX with a Roland SP 404SX, where I would have a sample on the SP looping over an EMX beat, but the machines weren't sync'd to each other. Mainly because the samples were often over a minute long, and even long 8 bar patterns are never that duration. So the beat and the sample were looping independently.

I was hoping that I could do the same all on one machine (the electribe sampler).

You could by triggering manually or deleting the trigger after the sample starts so as not to retriever. However, both machines have basically the same sample memory, and a minute long sample eats up a bunch of it, you wouldn't be able to do too many of those. The sp series is much better in that regard.

Unless the new sampler can stream from the sd card, but I wouldn't hold my breath.
