Where is the Midi Through?

Post by Robain »

it looks like there is no Midi through on the Midi ports. Am I missing a setting somewhere?
It would be nice if there was something in Global settings to enable Midi Though.

As far as I can tell...
No MIDI Thru...

That is why this one must be the last in the daisy chain. :(

Hi,

Not really MIDI through, at least not the type using a physical MIDI DIN connector, but worth to mention and maybe usefull in some setups: USB to/from MIDI OUT and MIDI IN connectors.

When the board is hooked up to a PC using USB, you'll get 2 pairs of MIDI IN/OUT ports on your PC:
* the first pair is to communicate with the keyboard and sound engine of the KK (typical usage)
* the second pair acts like a MIDI through in the KK and passes messages directly from USB to the MIDI OUT DIN connector and vice versa from MIDI IN DIN to USB.

So if you run a sequencer on your PC, you could use it to play notes on the KK, but also play notes on second MIDI device which is connected to the KK using MIDI cables. Both the notestreams go over the same USB cable between the PC and the KK.

Note that there is also a global parameter to control whether the keyboard and sound engine are connected to the USB or the MIDI DIN connectors or to both. This can be handy to block/pass MIDI in some situations. (Have a look at the manual.)

Bye.
