And now we have the Volca Sampler...

Korg just released the manual online and it says the following:brambos wrote:Is that confirmed? Do you have a link? It seems a bit clumsy... I would have bet on a Bluetooth connection.Sclr wrote:Sample loading is done through the sync input.
"In addition, sample data can be transferred if an iPhone is connected to the
SYNC IN jack. For details on obtaining and using the application, visit the
Korg Web site (http://www.korg.com/)"
There's still no info about the iSO application yet, but this does at least confirm that the Sync In jack will be used, not a Bluetooth connection.
But hey, if an iOS emulator can be run on a home computer, then I'll be buying this for certain.
Roland Juno-60, SH-101, TR-606, MC-505, Casio CZ-101, Yamaha DX100, DX11, Kawai R-50e // Korg R3, microSTATION, Monotribe, MS-20 Mini, SQ-1, minilogue, electribe sampler, Volca series: Bass, Keys, Beats, Sample, FM, Kick, Moog Theremin
Cool, thanks for the heads-up. For me it doesn't really matter, because I have a dozen iOS devices lying around and I can even dedicate one specifically to the task of managing samples for the Volca. But if it uses the Sync jack then it's not high-end technology (an audio signal even, like in the old C64 days?) and an Android app or a home-brew solution may not be far off.Re-Member wrote:Korg just released the manual online and it says the following:brambos wrote:Is that confirmed? Funny it's the opposite for me, this gives me a way to jam on a physical hardware box with all the cool samples I have and create on my iPad. This is a really cool thing for me.Fluxwithit wrote:the simple lack of a direct sampling input kills this for me. and I do have plenty of iOS devices... sampling on iPad sucks because of the file management. and if I am gonna use samples from the iPad... hell I may as well just use my sampling apps on my iPad.
I'm not sure yet if I will get this or the electribe sampler
Korg gear : EMX1SD, Volca Sample, DS-10
iOS: Gadget, iM1, iElectribe, iMs20, iPolysix, iKaossilator
History : Korg E2, Mini KP, Kaossilator Mini, R3

Definitely this thing for me over the Electribe. The Volcas are so nice and accessible.. To me that's far more important than having lots of features.
I'm going to fill this baby up with samples from the 707/727/505/... And turn it into every drummachine I don't have yet
Now to figure out how to keep it under the wife's radar...

I've just been reading about the volca sample on the korg website. Why no android app' or windows/linux utility for loading custom samples? I loathe & despise all things apple, so it's no good to me without being able to access it from android/windows/linux. Very disappointing indeed. I'm a korg fan-boy, but no ANDROID app' is somewhat off-putting...
That's silly and hardly Korg's problem, is it?roguenjosh wrote:I loathe & despise all things apple
Once you get over your irrational hatred of what's for all intents and purposes just a manufacturer of solid electronics you'll realise that you can get a second hand iPod Touch or iPad for next to nothing and you'll be able to enjoy the Volca Sample too.
Just get over yourself.
Don't worry, it's been confirmed to use audio sync for sample import. Should be easy to hack together an android app to support sample loadingroguenjosh wrote:I've just been reading about the volca sample on the korg website. I think loading samples through external device is an excellent idea because it does cut on half baked sampling and editing on such device. (even on many more expensive devices, sampling is not always strong part). But yes, iEverything is getting a bit tired. It is from someone who has iPhone, 3x ipod touch, ipad1 and ipad 2... and still uses android phone as his main phone .....
Does anybody know the price?
