Replacing touch screen

My touch screen can no longer be calibrated.

On November 10 last year rpowell01 wrote "I just had to replace mine about 2 weeks ago. Very simple task."

If Mr/Ms Powell is still around - does this mean that you did it yourself? If so, can you provide some details of tools, access, is it tricky, awkward, can it done by someone with moderate skills etc etc?

Has anyone else done it? can you provide some instructions?

I have a new touch screen on the way and was wondering if I could do it myself.

Thanks for any help. Judging from the number of posts about this problem there are a lot of us who will be grateful!!

Hi Ross

I had a faulty touch screen, and was worried it would be a major and costly repair.

A local technician (in Melbourne, Australia) replaced it for about $100 for parts and labour. It works perfectly.

Thanks for responding so quickly. Melbourne you say? That's great. I'm in Melbourne. Can you give me a name? Was it Logitronics or somewhere else?

Was your repair permanent? Problem hasn't returned?

This just happened almost overnight and the M3 is virtually useless.

Yes I know what you mean, the M3's useless without the screen.

Interestingly my screen suddenly came good this weekend. Perhaps its a miracle this easter!!

my touchscreen goes a bit lazy on the right hand side after my m3 unit has been powered on for several hours, would a replacement fix this?

I'll let you know if I end up replacing mine. Although I haven't seen many complaints from people who have made the replacement. Perhaps James could comment?

I did mine about a year ago. I took pictures as i disassembled to go back and look at what went where. The hardest part for me was removing the touch screen. Its glued on pretty tight and if not careful you can easily scratch the screen(glass). Im not at all tech saavy and I pulled it off.
