Introduction and question about drum triplets

Post by Flaco »

Hello all,

Good to be on here.

I recently returned to the EMX after having owned it for a few weeks about a year ago. I started learning so much about production by using my EMX that I thought I could do better with software production. So, I sold my emx in order to buy a maschine. however, I was very dissappointed when i discovered how different the workflow, ease of use, performance ability, and several other factors associated with a more computer based workflow is. I'm new to production so I sorely missed the brilliance of the emx design for composing quite sophisticated patterns with a very small learning curve. Therefore, I began looking for a like-new electribe and finally found one two weeks ago.

I'm so happy to be back in the fold!

I have one question about how to best produce triplets (hi hats or kicks). I can kind of imagine how to do it, but I would appreciate knowing what your workflow is and what the benefits/disadvantages are.

Good to be here. I hope to be posting a lot here as I plan to really dig into the EMx.

Cheers,

Flaco

the only options you really have for triplets on drums is to use 3/8 time on the pattern or run a 4/4 pattern and use the roll function set to 2 (I think)

You might also be able to use a BPM delay with motion sequencing to let the drum part echo 2 times at same/similar volume then cut the decay to stop the "triplet"

If you wanna keep the same time signature, you can make a quick 3-hit burst by changing the roll type to 3 and motion sequencing the roll button to only engage when you need it to.
