Conversion of Kontakt sample library to Kronos ? best way ?

Post by ix »

Hi guys , hoping to save some time here and get advice on the best way
to convert some Kontakt sample libraries / patches to a format that will then easily load into the Kronos.

My issue is that the Kontakt libraries in some instances have fx , filter settings and of course adsr settings and i wondered if any software converts any or all of these settings with a patch ?

I know the fx conversion is very wishfull thinking but i wondered about the filter and adsr settings ?

I am able here to convert back down to soundfont first but that i think strips all the parameter settings ? including adsr ( which is the most essential one i need to try and convert )

I have here both the latest translator and also cdextract but no Kronos to test in right now ! .....a studio session with one booked in 2 weeks and i need some of these patches converted to try ?

Could anyone offer me some advice on the slickest way to get Kontakt into the Kronos and any issues i should watch like but depth etc ?

If you have older (unencrypted) Kontakt libraries you might be ably to convert them directly. The newer ones you'll need to sample, how complex you want to make it is up to you. Extreme Sample Converter works quick and easy but it's probably not the most precise way to do it. If it's just a particular sound you need and you don't need to fuss much with editing, I would sample the whole thing as is automatically from ESC (excluding the obvious fx like chorus and reverb) and add reverb/chorus in the K.

Oh yeah K uses 48KHz 16 bit samples.

many thanks and a great post , the kontakt files i have will convert direct to soundfonts no problem but i am unsure of the release adsr will convert , the samples i have dont use a seperate sample for release , just loop over a section of the wav file on each wav multisample but i will have to do the effects and filter settings , no major deal....so everything must go to Sf2 format first..

If you can convert directly to sf2 from your files then most things should be nearly alright. I've had to adjust release times in the past but that's about it.

How do you adjust the release time exactly?.....I've adjusted 3 different release times to max and none of them made an audible difference to the sample...The note still immediately cuts off as soon as I leave off the key....I'm taking my manual out to the studio with me now so hopefully I can get this going in the next hour or so.....Thanks....moon

Amp release and filter release should usually do the trick.

Thanks, that did the trick....Now if I can just figure out how to set the modulation up for the joystick.....I seem to have everything else working.....Thanks again....moon
