Patching vowel sounds on the ms20
I have been trying to figure out how to patch vocal/vowel sounds on ms 20 with no luck so far. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks, Dan
Re: Patching vowel sounds on the ms20
For simple (quick & dirty) vowel like sounds it takes at least a HP and a LP filter with resonance and the option to move both of the cut-off frequencies on their own and most important "movement" of the filters. Three filters would be better but ...Bassface78 wrote:I have been trying to figure out how to patch vocal/vowel sounds on ms 20 with no luck so far. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks, Dan
You can do that with the MS-20.
1) create a sound with lot of overtones, best use both VCOs, select octave near to human voice, selection of saw or pulse will give it a special timbre of the "voice".
2) now set HP and LP to different EG's or EG/MG, you can do that with the patch field. You can also use the inverted outputs of the EG's and the MG for one of the two cut-off frequencies, which will give you the option to move both cut-off frequencies not parallel but swinging at inverted directions (both opening and closing in some kind of rythm).
3) set the EG/MG timing, amplitudes, cut-offs, and the resonances ... that will take a little of trying ... but at least there should be some "WoW", "Wee", "Woo" effects for refining.
Dont expect the output of formant-filters, which are dedicated to vowels and much easier to use.
