absolutely like i said, glad that you have taken an interest in it, you might want to google the open electribe editor, on top of sample management it also allowed you to manage the other data that is contained within the esx. Worth giving a look over even just to look at how some of the data is and or can be organized. skratchdot.com or something like that might get you there.michelkeijzers wrote:I'm afraid PCG Tools mainly focusses on programs/combis, not about samples. So the .esx format is something for a (very) far future.djcactus wrote:Im glad you have taken an interest in the electribe, it would be great to have something that can organize my samples and make a .esx file and actually work. The esx editor that is out there gives me hit and miss results, usually missing when i need it most.
Although i dont think this is the direction you were going to take.
However, I hope PCG Tools can do some useful things for you anyway.

Thank you ... I see there is indeed more information ... I don't know exactly if there is also program information but at least a lot of others. The format of the esx file is explained globally.djcactus wrote:absolutely like i said, glad that you have taken an interest in it, you might want to google the open electribe editor, on top of sample management it also allowed you to manage the other data that is contained within the esx. For others interested in this open editor, this is the correct link: http://skratchdot.com/projects/open-electribe-editor/

Michel: I just got hold of an ESX again (I sold my old a couple of years back) and I'm re-familiarising myself with it and see there is a new editor available since I last looked.
With the latest Open Electribe editor I can swap programs and samples between separate .esx files (using the import function), but I can't edit the patterns in a program.
With the older ESXWaveOrganiser editor I can edit (and create) patterns but I can't import patterns from another .esx file.
So between the two I can do pretty much all the edit parameters.
Just thought I'd mention this, having read your previous posts ...

Thanks for this information. PCG Tools works with programs (and combis), not with patterns. I hope there will be some tricks PCG Tools can do, the other can't but also vice versa it will be true.Sparker wrote:Michel: I just got hold of an ESX again (I sold my old a couple of years back) and I'm re-familiarising myself with it and see there is a new editor available since I last looked.

I made a poll at

Up-to-date EMX manual: http://www.korg.co.uk/support/downloads/emx1_dl.phpThat information sounds very helpful. Since PCG Tools only can handle programs and combis, it looks I should treat the patterns as programs (hope people don't mind about the name). Then I will make four program banks (A-D) with 64 programs (patterns) each. The ID will be as you write. If there is a name, the name will be shown, otherwise it will be empty (or for those electribes that don't support names).
Then with PCG Tools you can rearrange them, copy, paste, compact, clear them and also copy them from one file to another... so it seems PCG Tools might be useful for Electribes after all.
For the next month I probably will be busy with the manual because it is out of date, after that depending on the voting I can start on it (assuming the Electribes is still ahead).
Before I begin it would be nice to have some sysex files.
Also I would be interested where to load some .EMX/.ESX file to see the content.
Loading an .EMX file only works on the machine right now. You can ofc store the file on your computer but not do anything else with it. The .ESX file can be manipulated with the already mentioned Open Electribe Editor. If you can program Java and bit-juggle, you can have a look at the sources of the OEE: https://github.com/skratchdot/open-electribe-editor
Here is the ESX file format according scratchdot: http://skratchdot.com/projects/open-ele ... xFile.html
The EMX version should be similar and simpler.

I tried to get some sysex files with MIDI-OX. I used the factory pattern as a base. It's the first time I did this so I'm not sure if I got it correctly (manual page 82):
