Ms20 pitch shift

okay, so i have my ms20 for 3 months or so now, and ive realized one thing:

Im not sure if this is supposed to be this way or is it just a default in my machine.

When i patch my ms20 like this:
- mod wheel into control input
- modulation generator (or any other input, noise, whatever) into the in part of the vca
- vca out into total, or frequency.

Now, even when my mod wheel is set to 0, when i shift the mg/t.ext knob, or eg1/ext knob (whether vca out is plugged into total or freq input), the pitch of my oscillator drift up ~3 semitones.

So when i play a C it plays a E bemol.

As i deduct, it should only be adding a modulation source to my sound without shifting the pitch, but...

Just wondering if its normal for the ms20, or a default in my machine.

Can anyone try this and give me back some news, thanks!

I tried this out and was kinda able to get something like what you were talking about , I think it was maybe to do with EG1/EXT? Someone else here might have something to say...
I tried changing patches and had this again on a patch that doesn't usually do this.
But then I turned off and on again and it stopped doing it...
Very scientific...

Ok thanks el hombre, can someone please actually verify if it does change the pitch, this is the way to go:

- mod wheel into control input,
- triangle wave out into input of vca,
- output of vca into freq

In this case, since the output of vca goes into freq, you have to turn the eg1/ext knob all the way up to 10,

Now, turn this knob all the way up to ten while the mod wheel is pointed towards you, (0 position) And see if a pitch shift occurs.

My MS20 mini s guarantee is coming to an end, and I would like to know if it's defaulted or not, so I can switch it, please give me a hand if you can, thanks!

i think it should do nothing if the wheel is in zero position= center click.

wheel all the way down means -5V (or -2,5V i´m not sure), so it means it should result into lower frequency.

I´m not at home now to test my unit in the way you were mentioning..

I don't have my MS20 in front of me but I'll have a look when I get home because I think I was stumped by this at one point too until I realised that there's a pot (I can't remember which one) that adjusts how much effect the control wheel has on pitch. Once I got that sorted, I didn't have this problem anymore.
I might be barking up the wrong tree though.

how much does the wheel affect the pitch depends on how much you turn either EG1/EXT or MG/T.EXT clockwise, depends where is the wheel patched into. 0 means, the wheel will have no effect at all, 10 means it will change the pitch a whole lot if you turn the wheel.
