Kronos Famous Synth Sounds

I'm in the process of compiling a bank of programs using AL-1, MS-20, Polysix and a little STR-1. Most of these I'm fairly happy with the results. Everything you hear in the demo is done in real time. The sequences were done using the step sequencer(s). There are no combis, everything is a program.

I know you're in the habit of giving away super high quality stuff, Bill (may I call you Bill?), but I would pay for a collection like this. Or at least make a donation to your blog to cover some expenses. I've tried a lot of freebies and the only one I consistently get back to is your clavinet. I would definitely use (some of) these too.

As for suggestions, off the top of my head you're "missing" some Michael Jackson and Prince for instance. You could probably do a whole collection from just them

The lead, bass and pad from The Way You Make Feel and the thick hysterical synth from 1999 to name a few important ones. Sign of the Times is another obvious one, as is Billie Jean, When Doves Cry, U Got The Look. Probably some of Mod7 on the Jackson ones though.
I really like the synth from the chorus of "Don't You Forget About Me" by The Simple Minds too.
And Bon Jovi has a couple of memorable ones: You Give Love A Bad Name and Living on a Prayer.

And SanderX, those are good suggestions. The MJ and Price stuff can be challenging. MJ's production was as good as it gets. They didn't just slap a synth on a track. Prince too. 1999 was made from four overdubs of synths so it's hard to nail down exactly what you're hearing. There is a 1999 program on the Kronos already.

True, the 1999 synth we have is pretty decent already.
I was in a Prince tribute band for a year in school, and had to figure out a lot of those sounds on my TEx. His synth sounds are some of the hardest and weirdest to figure out because half the time you simply can't decide if what your hearing is an extra synth layer or perhaps the tail end of some guitar reverb or something. So good luck with that, haha

From Genesis, there are a number of sounds on the older stuff with their classic character of the time, mostly ARP Pro Soloist stuff, but if you're talking about "popular" Genesis, then I would think maybe Abacab and Turn It On Again.

Cool to see ELP Trilogy there. There are a number of major synth sounds in that song...

Maybe some Yes? The synth breaks in Roundabout, for example...

Great demo. I was hoping to hear the Genesis Follow You but I guess you didn't have time to get it on the demo. Tony Banks organ sounds are my favorite and I wonder if you used the new CX3 update for that. Thanks a million though.

I've never worked with the Pro Soloist but I found the technical reference manual online. It's very good in pointing out the signal chain for the presets. So with In the Cage the consensus seems to be the Fuzz Guitar preset was used on the recording, so I followed that in the manual and based my program on what that's actually going on in the ARP preset. Note, some things are known (waveforms) but some are not, e.g. the effect of the tone resonators. So if anyone happens to know the exact ARP Prosoloist preset used on any of these songs, it would be very helpful.
