CX-3 japanese 100V power supply model can work under 230V?

Discussion relating to all other KORG synth related products that don’t have a dedicated section. For example, OASYS PCI, M1, N Series, 01W series, T series, and more…

CX-3 japanese 100V power supply model can work under 230V?

Post by pato »

Hi everybody,

I've just got a CX-3 which has belonged to a japanese musician, and is a 100V model.

As I'm in Europe, I was wondering if it can be modified to work in 230V.

The power supply is a KLM-2090 (switching regulator type), and I know they can usually stand a wide range of input voltage.

Anyway before burning all :D , I'd like to know if somebody has more experience than me and tried it before?

thank you

No idea about that particular unit but you could always get a 230 - 110 step down, atleast it won't go bang *shrug*

Switching PSU does not necessarily mean that it can handle the full 90-240 volt range. Especially older ones, while their construction is SMPS, were designed for the specified voltage and some components might burn out due to overvoltage (110V unit on 230V) or higher current draw (230V unit on 110V mains).

So I suggest the same as Carlb1058, unless you can ensure with certainty that the PSU was designed to handle the different mains input.

Hello,

I have the same dilema, a US 110V Korg CX3 that Id like to oprate on 240V.
The KLM2090 has worked for me befor with the triton Calssic.
DId you end up using your CX3 on 240 volts? did it work ?

Thanks

Oren
