Is there a keyboard that will give me all of the effects ?
I tried the mox and motif xs and now I am sitting here with Kronos. Is there a keyboard anywhere that when I am sequencing that will give me all of the programs effects for each track without begging or swapping or having to do without this or that?
When I hear a sound that I like or ten sounds that I like and want to create a song with them, I should be able to Assign a sound to a track, and the sound has all the characteristics that it had in program mode when I picked it.
I copy program to track on the Kronos and it tells me "NO MORE SLOTS"
If I pick 13 programs to record on 16 midi channels I want THOSE PROGRAMS! .... not some stupid bate and switch!.....
What keyboard does this?

Here is what I just emailed to Korg....
Please make this.
A workstation for writers. Like kronos but easy. As for sounds just the basics Bass, guitar, piano electric piano, organ ,strings, horns, pads and drums. Give us 20 of each..that's it! Make it so writing is easy! sequence in sections like a drum machine..intro, verses ,chorus etc. Most importantly is no tweaking! If I go to program a5 and that's a piano with certain fx, that is what should record when I assign it to a track. Period! and if I assign 16 instruments all of them should not be compromised by fx limitations per song. Just do it! skip all of the stupid stuff that make a manual 200 pages and let me pick what I want, record it...and move on. You have ssd's and ram requirements that are astronomical, but cant just make a easily usable writing tool. Just explain UPFRONT...Korg listens to WRITERS and here it is!...Including audio was great by the way!
They are probably laughing but they'd better wise up before I MAKE IT!

Have you tried a using a laptop with a DAW program, GM plug-in - and MIDI keyboard; that would do what you want ...
Just make sure you can expand your RAM to handle all the effects ...

I think what you are looking for is more like an arranger instead of a workstation/synthesizer.uriahsmusic wrote:Please make this.

I want to have full flexibility, I don't need a sequencer, I want a detailed 1000+ pages manual describing all details, I want tweaking.
It's not that I'm against your ideas ... but everyone has different ideas.

I think that a product that allows both is possible. It is a challenge but the product could be made to be used at different levels, ready to go for the songwriter but also deeply configurable and customizable for the sound designer, for example.michelkeijzers wrote:I think what you are looking for is more like an arranger instead of a workstation/synthesizer.uriahsmusic wrote:Please make this.

For synth sounds the Novation (Super) Nova series does pretty well. They give seven effects for each of the six voices (up to 42 simultaneous effects) ... but it's not a workstation and has no 'acoustic instrument' sounds ...
uriahsmusic: Maybe an Arranger Keyboard would do what you want ... however I've just looked at the Korg Flagship Pa3X Arranger specs and that only offers 8 stereo effects.
As Mike Conway says: Fantom G (specs say up to 18 effects +2MFX +chorus + reverb)

The problem with making more fx slots available is that people would use them in their programs, and then you have the same problem when trying to combine programs with so many fx. Or they could artificially limit the max fx available for programs, making sure there are always enough fx for seq and combi mode. Except then you would have people complain that their machine has stupid limitations.
It really sounds like you're thinking of an arranger - really good basic sounds, a lot less tweaking and a drum machine ready to go. The Kronos is a great board but it seems your expectations go in an entirely different direction.

NO, there is not, they all start to falling apart when you take 13 sounds across 16 tracks each with different effects.
What you need is 13 keyboards with 26 FX units, and a 16 track recorder.
Sorry to say, you have to be a little more creative with sound selection and FX assignments, do some clever routing. This may take you a few months to read the 200 pages of the operators manual, and about 500 pages of the Parameter Guide. You need to learn too work within the constraints.
Good Luck, but your Opus will have too wait.

that's why I prefer vst instruments for recording and use the Kronos only 1 sound at a time. Stuff like like trying to assign and share effects in a hardware synth kills the momentum.
I would rather have a couple IFX embedded in the synth engines, take away the shared IFX, and it make it easier to build a Combi.

I always work with a Combi that has several useful FX set up and ready to go, then just patch the programs FX routing where needed.
If I have two or three patches that use different reverbs, I compromise.
If I have two or three patches that use different delays, I compromise.
If I can't (or won't) compromise, I record an audio track - Simple.
If your recordings HAVE to be absolutely perfect, use a DAW.
I don't think we'll have unlimited FX in a Workstation until Kronos XXX

Even at the Kronos XXX it won't happen. It just makes no sense conceptually. When you can use 1000IFX slots people will make patches with them just to see what will happen. Combine those into a combi and you have the same problem. Working within the limits and thinking about routing cleverly is the answer here. If you don't want to do that, a modern workstation is not the answer for you.
