The kronos editor works fine standalone under win 7 64 bit.
But I cannot get the vst plugin to work at all in cubase 7 64 bit
Is this because the plugin is 32 bit ?
has anyone else had similar experiences ?
thanks Guys

Re: Kronos vst plugin and cubase 7 64 bit
there is no 64 bit kronos dll, so it's not possible to use it in a modern 64 bit daw unless you downgrade to a 32 bit daw environment.skuppy wrote:The kronos editor works fine standalone under win 7 64 bit.

it's usable standalone next to cubase 7 64, that's the only way how you can use it at the moment. The automation in cubase 7 for the kronos should be created as follows:
- create your own midi device panel where you paint the control RTC panel of the Kronos and connect those to the corresponding CC values.
- then create an external midi device named kronos (so that you can use the kronos as a vsti)
- then assign that your RTC midi panel to that device.
This way you can use automation for the control panel settings you've defined in your combi or program on the kronos.
It's inconvenient, but it is what it is.
Another possibility is to buy the commercial version of midi quest, where 64 bits is supported. You have to buy an upgrade for the kronos vsti in that case.

Not Korg, I would say it is a ploy by Soundquest to force users to buy their program and not just use the free one.
I mean they are not stupid, and they KNOW the vast majority of DAW operators are using a 64 bit environment, so it is deliberate and in my view, quite underhanded business practice.
Especially when the software they sell is sooooooooo overpriced it is not funny, just extortion

Well.. If Korg wanted to pay for SoundQuests 64 bit environment I'm sure they would be allowed to, but perhaps they got a good deal for the 32 bit platform and decided that was enough?
I'm not sure how SoundQuest could be blamed for the support included in the Kronos environment to be 32 bit only. If Korg really wanted to, I'm sure they could roll their own editor or plugin - it's not like they're not talented developers. The problem is probably more related to not being willing to pay for that to be done.
I guess you can blame SoundQuest for their prices, but nobody is forced to buy.

Well it is a bit naive to think that Soundquest did not grasp the opportunity to "whet peoples appetites" with a 32 bit VST that is all but useless to about 90% of the DAW users, and not have even a cut down 64 bit version...
And to not even offer some form of discount if people upgrade from the 32 bit Kronos to a 64 bit Kronos..
And really man, for you to simply say ".......if its too expensive so don't buy it" REALLY smacks of the I'm alright Jack - I don't give a S#$t about you attitude...
When I can get a serious VST like BFD Eco for $90 - well over $300 for a quite straightforward PC editor seems a bit rich doncha think?

Argghhh...got my Kronos XXL some days ago - sounds amazing and the capabilities were also unique and outstanding. But its really annoying to work with Cubase7 and the VST-PlugIn! Crashes after some minutes with vst-bridge. So what? No support? No Update? Please KORG - I invest all my money in the Kronos and now I can only use it as a normale Midi-Instrument????

Greetings, Sunny
