This is just awesome

Post by Yoa »

So I was in a local Salvation Army, partially hoping I'd have the luck of another member who got an MS-10 from a place like that, but instead I found this (gallery):

I plugged it in and it works absolutely perfectly! And it's only $50 (price changed as I was playing it: someone came by and marked it down lol)!! Sadly, due to the size of my house and available space I couldn't take it home, but it is INCREDIBLE. It was also the first time I'd ever seen a real Hammond IRL. First time ever playing one, too. I'm apparently getting good at playing keys and synths because a lot of people stopped shopping and were watching.

Just thought I'd share this little bit of awesome with you.
Cheers! Yoa

It's a Hammond but only one of the home models with switches instead of drawbars.

The ones with real drawbars are most sought after. Organs with different combination voices to switch on/off only can be had for next to nothing from many places. I wouldn't be surprised if Hammond actually were a fairly weak product in this area compared to other manufacturers.

Huh. I'd really only heard of B3s and other higher Hammonds (aside from broken ones on Craigslist). What do that bars do, acts as volumes for each instrument?

So this is actually a fairly common price? Wow, I might get two if I find them! It plays great, and is way better than cheap Yamaha's or Casios, at least in my opinion. Says the guy currently surrounded by synths and guitars...
