Modular guitar controller idea

Post by Yoa »

Hey guys,

So I don't know if you know modulars at all, but I had an idea. I plan on getting a reasonable Doepfer setup sometime soon and thought of an idea to control it with my guitar (or another instrument).

Since the image is rather large (sorry about that...), I'll explain here:
First setup is to have the guitar's signal be an audio output, then use that to sync frequencies with the oscillator, hopefully matching pitch.
Second setup is to have the detected gate signal from the guitar act as a gate for an adsr (I went with quad just because).
Third setup is to use these two in conjunction.

I know analogue synthesis, and modulars, but would this work? It does in theory, anyway.

Oscillator sync will not get you identical pitch. You need a pitch tracker. Don't know if Doepfer makes those.

They don't, sadly. It will get close, though, right? I know harmonics will probably be an issue, though.

That's actually pretty awesome, but I'm trying to keep things simple: one order form, one brand, one shipment. I am just starting out on modulars, after all.

However, I do have a list of modules I'd like, I'll just toss it in that list. Thanks!
