Box for Shipping Keyboards / Workstations / Synths?
I am over 130 miles from nearest Guitar Center for special favor. There arent any decent music stores in this area that would have excess boxes.
Any ideas on shipping Korg-88 Kronos without the original boxes?, or similar sized workstation.
I did some research and came up with Uline with will sell a box (or should i say a bundle of 5 boxes for 45 and change plus $60 freight to ship the empty boxes. I could use two but would have to sell the other 3 off on ebay or something.
Anyone want to get rid of their Kronos-88 box. Ill pay the shipping and a few bucks for your troubles.
Otherwise, any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

What are you looking for exactly?
You want a KRONOS 88 delivered to you?
If so, 130 miles is nothing... hop into your car and go get it yourself. Why not even make a day trip out of it and take the time to browse the store.
Regards
Sharp.

Get a flightcase made - or buy a mass-market one (delivery will be probably free from an online store). You'll be worse off with anything lesser when shipping and this one will protect your instrument if you need to transport or ship ever again.
Don't buy a gigbag (softcase), or if you do (e.g. online), buy 1 or 2 sizes bigger (which will be very difficult in the case of a Kronos 88 ) and wrap the instrument in tons of bubble wrap and/or foam before putting in it. Once I had a Trinity surviving a flight in such a setup, but I would not recommend the feeling to anyone I had throughout. Was prepared to pick up a fluff of junk at luggage claim - left completely to the mercy of the luggage handlers I think they just had a very-very good day or there was a keyboard player amongst them, perhaps... Was an emergency situation, would never attempt again.

If nothing else, you could tape many boxes together.

NC88,
You could build a box to fit or have it done for you -- not talking flight case here, just someone clever with folding cardboard. Appliance stores sometimes have large scale (think fridge) cardboard panels that might suit.
If it was me I'd even consider a doubled box for extra structure against drops & twists.
Previous advice about bubble over-wrapping is dead serious and your best bet for reducing possible shocks. You might also want to reinforce corners with extra layers of cardboard.
End result should be a box 4 to 5 inches bigger than the contents all around - especially at the ends.
Finally, mark it fragile, electronics, nothing on top, ship flat (whatever fits) -- and get insurance for the contents equal to replacement value.
