The Krome is for people like me who cannot afford a $10,000 synth like all of you expected from Korgs big announcement. The news may not surprise all of you "Rich people" who have all the money in the world to use on synths and other gear that I can only dream of owning one day, but for who this is made for I think KORG did the greatest thing ever by Inventing this wonderful machine so that even people like me can have some KRONOS sounds at an affordable price.
I love KORG for inventing this and yes i'll buy it when I get the money.

Dont even think about it...Krome can not even come close to these 2.
I said until I get my kronos, not until I get my krome :)

think Korg have played their trump card with this model, and its aroused my interest and perhaps come at a good time given what it offers at a budget price,Kronos owners have nothing to fear from it,its basically a middlemans compromise not a threat, just like the Jupiter 80-50 till compromise, the Kronos is still going to be the Flagship, its Korgs normal filtered down technology cycle of their products.

I had planned on purchasing a Kronos later down the road once they'd fixed all the issues as an alternative gigging board to finally retire the Oasys for studio use,and the X model looks a serious option, was currently using a Triton EX for an alternative method of sounds as a temporary fix, mostly because I use the Rompler side of the Oasys more than all the Exis which Kronos offers, I was using it along side an SV-1 for the pianos for Gigs but and the Kronos offered it all in one unit allowing me to slim down the gear for live needs i was hoping Korg would have dropped the price by the time of purchase or was happy to look at a second user model as another option

The Krome seems to have pretty much everything including a half decent piano which would allow me to use just a single board and remove the SV1 from the equasion for gigging and it gives what I need without the full cost of a Kronos,so its a viable option for a gig board for me so I'm voting yes..

it's interesting... krome has nothing to do with kronos except Kr in the name, maybe grand piano samples and chassis.

but the core engine is directly derived from m3

Maybe not discontinued but in another thread was stated that the M50 is not produced anymore.

I think this Krome solves some of my missing needs regarding my M50.

It's probably already been mentioned, but improved pianos and EPs are very welcome to people who already use and enjoy the M50. The only other area I think that needs improvement are the organs.

It will be interesting the hear all of the sounds inside...EDS-X definately sounds like they have tweaked the sounds we already know in the M3 and M50.

I had the Microstation for a while, and it's EDS-i was different than the EDS in the M50. I think the suffix "X" is there for a reason.

I'm excited to sell my M50 and get some new hardware with improved pianos and EP's!

I won't buy it because I find MOX6 for some reasons better for me.

hi basari, just for curiosity, which features makes you considering mox or junos preferable?
is because you already own other korg workstation or other?

There is a chance I will buy it, but first, need to get proof that it is built better than M50.

Korg keeps quite long together keyboards that seemingly interfere one with another:

Microkorg - Microkorg XL
X50 - PS60
M3 - Kronos
etc.

I find it good because it bring more choices. Actually, it would be nice if all synthesizer brands would keep some small line of production for their "older" synths, it would give us more choice and it would make me as a owner more relaxed about spare parts. Just imagine, being able to buy a brand new Trinity for, say, 600 USD. Or Triton for 750 USD.

I know I am dreaming ;)

I actually own an MOX6 along with my M50.

The main reason I bought the MOX was to improve the electric piano selection (and, to some degree, the Hammond organs although both Korg and Yamaha are not perfect to my ears)

I am eager to hear the improvements on the EPs on the Krome...I am very happy with the Rhodes and Wurli's on the MOX. If the Krome excels in this area I might consider trading in both my M50 and MOX towards the Krome in order to keep my musical-gear-aquisition habits in check.

The real test will be once this Krome is released and I can sit down at it and feel out the pianos and EPs. I am hoping the EDS-X has some sonic tweaks that will help my decision.

...although I might miss the wonderful woodwinds on the MOX...
