OK, so I am downsizing to just my SV-1 and MBP running my synths. To make my life easier, I was thinking of forgoing my AudioBox USB and routing the internal sound output from the MBP to the SV-1 (and then outputing to the house mixer). Anyone doing this and liking the simplicity over the possible sound degradation (although I am not sure if the internal sound chip on the MBPs are that bad- possibly providing even lower latency for synths??).

I think my one main worry is using the headphone jack so much- very fragile in the first place. Anyone have an experience with break-away jacks (looks like Snap Jack from ZZYZX is no longer available- likely walked across Apple's patent for their mag power connector). I saw there is a non-magnetic breakaway 3.5" jack cable- maybe that is a good solution to avoid any possible accidents.

sv1 as mixer
i have pretty much the same setup, but i run a microstation thru the sv1 inputs as well, and then send it all to the house. i've found that for using my MBP, the headphone jack is a little too precious (and not really that great) for live use. try this audio card:
Behringer UCA222
it costs about $30 and the latency for audio output is around 8ms with mainstage. killin. just make sure you have enough usb left over for whatever else. i've even used the microstation as a midi controller for mainstage (thru usb) and then taken the MBP outs into the sv1. everything works fine. multiple keyboard rig, and L/R to the house. easy for everyone.
