Are synth part buttons working?

Post by tyebillion »

When I press the synth part buttons on my EMX-1 I do not hear the synth. Is this normal or is my electribe faulty? I can change synth part and the "keyboard" function works, I just don't get a preview of the sound when I press any synth part button.

To preview a synth part you have to choose it and play it via the keyboard (step buttons). Keep in mind hat the "Keyboard" button has to be on. The "normal" preview only works for the drum parts.

Thanks for that, Olivander12. For a while I was worried my EMX1 was faulty. I guess Korg had live performance in mind, where you can change synth part without it making a sound, even when the pattern / song is not playing. Perhaps they should have made it a feature that you can turn on / off.

Well, korg would have had to choose which note it is going to 'preview' when you press the synth part, which might not always be appropriate for the sound which is there, or for the key of your song..
So really, the reason it happens (and I personally never expected otherwise), is because a synth part needs to be told which note to play, whilst a drum part doesn't usually have such a concept as a played note.
