Midi tempo sync complex question

if i connect the microsamplers midi out to a microkorgs midi in, and set the microkorgs tempo clock to use external (basically using the microsamplers tempo as the midi clock), Can i then connect the midi out of the microkorg to another device like a drum machine to control its tempo too

what i mean is as ive set the microkorgs midi clock to external (using microsamplers clock), will the drum machine still detect the tempo from the midi out of the microkorg?

No. When something is set to external clock, it usually stops transmitting clock messages itself.

However, the Thru port relays everything that is received on In, so you can connect your drum machine to that on the microKorg.

... if you have in, out and thru. Many recent synths have eliminated a separate thru jack in favor of just in & out, but the thru function may be selectable in a global menu on some devices. The manual may reveal whether this function is supported; turning the out jack to a thru from the standpoint of passing along MIDI signals it receives, like MIDI Clock.

thanks, both great responces, ill have a look in global and check if i can swap it to thru, if not, ill have to rethink my chain
