Frustrated while sequencing...help!

Post by zenkronos »

Hi, I recently got a Kronos 77 and I'm having problems while creating a song. From a usb drive I loaded in a standard midi file of some drums (i tried a few different ones) and they are on track one. I finally figured out how to change the pitch so they would actually work right...the presets don't use gm? Anyway everytime I play the song and hit locate to go back to the beginning it changes the program to A000 jazz kit and it won't stay on the rock drums I picked out. This is hopefully some eazy fix that I just have no clue about. If anyone has an idea I'd very much appreciate it!

It's easy. Go under track edit, select each track at the time, make sure that you specify the lenght of the measures so you include the whole song, under "edit MIDI events, uncheck everything but Program changes. Once you see them, select each event and CUT (delete). Exit saving and voila, your choosen sounds will remain on when you locate.

Thanks a lot! It all seems a bit complicated right now...I had a Roland G6 that was horrible for sequencing and so far this seems a little better. If I can figure out where everything is located I'll be doing alright. I'm sure I'll have plenty of more dumb questions along the way. Thanks again.

Yes, the KORG KRONOS sequencer is much simpler than the FANTOM-G, so it's better for you. I think as you use more and find the standard solutions to these very common issues with GM MIDI files, you will get more comfortable.
Roland Fantom-G6 ARX1, Korg M3-m exb-Radias, Korg Z1-18v, Roland MC-808, Roland MC-909, Korg microKontrol.
